Round 1 – Referee Dale Frye calls the first fight. A touch of gloves gets us started. Brenneman moves in quickly, but High evades the flurry and answers. High lands a big right hand over a low kick that stuns Brenneman, but he recovers quickly. Missed punches by both and into the clinch. High pushes Brenneman against the cage. “The Spaniard” has some vocal supporters. Brenneman spins off cage briefly, but High pushes him back. Knee inside from Brenneman. Tied up along the cage in a body lock, and Brenneman gets a trip. Brenneman in side control with High’s head against the cage. Brenneman drops in knees to the ribs, but High is keeping the upper body tight. More left knees drive into the ribs. Two minutes in. Brenneman smothering High and dropping knees. Brenneman clears his right arm and delivers a few short elbows. Back to the headlock, and High is stuck on his back. A few more elbows from top, and High tries to scramble, but Brenneman happy in side control. More knees. High trying to regain half-guard to no avail. High spins quickly, works to his knees and stands. One minute left. Missed high kick by High. High throws a right, but Brenneman shoots in underneath it. High falls to his butt, though Brenneman can’t drive him all the way down. Brenneman pushes again and finishes. High takes guard, and the round ends. All Brenneman, 10-9 on the MMAjunkie.com card.
Round 2 – Chants of “Spaniard” to open second. Traded shots early. High kicks to the body. Brenneman with a right hand and tries to clinch. High evades and lands a right, but Brenneman shoots in again. Scramble on the floor, and this time High moves to top position. The pair scrambles again, and High locks in a guillotine with Brenneman on his knees. Brenneman remains calm and looks for an escape, but High maintains the hold and drops to the floor. Brenneman elevates and steps over, releasing tension. High maintains control of the head and Brenneman pushes into the cage. High on his knees halfway through the round, and he throws a few short rights to the ribs. Brenneman postures and tries to stand, but High maintaining control. Brenneman stands and High follows with his back to the cage. Brenneman working for a single-leg, but High sprawls effectively. Bit of a stalemate with a minute remaining, but Frye lets the action continue. Brenneman’s head low, and High pulls away. Brenneman scrambles away and High just misses on a flurry. Brenneman kicks low, and High looks tires. Brenneman connects on a punch, and High is obviously fatigued. High did enough to take the round on the MMajunkie com card, 10-9, but it remains to be seen what he has left in the tank.
Round 3 – High whiffs on a high kick. Brenneman still moving well, and he lands another right and shoots in for a single. He nails it, but High grabs another guillotine. Brenneman again kicks over the body to relieve the pressure and stands up. High follows, but Brenneman shoots the double and puts him on his butt. High pulls full guard with his head against the cage. High trapping Brenneman’s right arm, and the action stalls. Brenneman lands a left elbow and throws a few punches to the body. Halfway through the final round, and it’s still up for grabs. Brenneman with another elbow from the top. High content to stall underneath, but Frye not looking like he’s ready for a restart. High looks for a guillotine, then a kimura, but they’re just preliminary thoughts. A stand-up would probably be warranted, but Brenneman lands a few short shots on top. High lifts his left arm up for a guillotine, and with some work, he locks it in. Less than a minute remains. High has full guard, and he’s trying to crank it and elevate his hips. He rolls over to top position, but the hold slips and Brenneman escapes as time expires in the final frame. Brenneman really dominated position, but High made the only effort to finish the fight in the third. However, MMAjunkie.com sees it Brenneman in the third, 10-9, awarding him the fight 29-28. GERALD HARRIS VS. MARIO MIRANDA
Round 1 – Referee Bill Clancy in charge. Harris lands tow short right. Miranda misses with a high kick, then connects low. Miranda kicks high again, but it’s blocked. Harris fakes, but Miranda lands a low kick, then another high. Harris looks a bit hesitant to open as he navigates the reach. Miranda clinches briefly, then returns to the kicking attack.Harris lands an overhand right and scoots away. Harris misses on a second overhand. Two minutes in. Lead right for Harris. Miranda’s kicks landing to the legs at will. Another straight right for Harris, and he looks more comfortable. Traded shots as Miranda moves in, but Harris scampers away. Miranda leaps with a jab but eats a counter. Harris sliding away. Miranda kicks high, but it’s blocked. Harris tries to tie him up to no avail. Harris lands a left. Miranda lands a 1-2, and Harris drops to his knees. Miranda follows to the ground and throws punches from a front headlock. Harris has recovered, but Miranda holds the left hand around the neck. Miranda spins to the back, but Harris stands. Knee from Miranda but Harris backs away. Less than a minute. Harris misses on a wild hook. A second lands, and Miranda is wobbled. Harris swarms with punches. Miranda trying to regain his composure, but Harris follows him across the cage. More punches, and Miranda collapses under the onslaught. LUCIO LINHARES VS. YUSHIN OKAMI
Round 1 – Dale Frye back in the cage to officiate this fight. Linhares misses a big right early. Okami backs up to the cage and ducks under another right. Linhares with a low kick and a combo. Okami backs away, and Linhares is swinging for the fences early. Okami lands a left but eats a counter. Linhares whiffs twice. Okami circling against the cage and lands a nice knee. Linhares backs away to the center. Okami now in charge after two jabs. Okami tries another knee, but Linhares catches. Okami pushes him down and sets up in side control. Okami stands and pushes in. He briefly has an arm-triangle, but he backs away, and we’re back on the feet. Jab from Okami pops the head back. Halfway throughtthe round. Traded shots. Linhares is bloody, and he’s wobbly. An uppercut drops Linhares, and Okami follows with a series of hammerfists on the ground. Linhares regains his composure and tries to push away. Okami stays on top, but the defensive move buys Linhares time. Okami works from half-mount. One minute left. Short elbows and forearms from Okami on top. Okami postures and lands a few bigger shots as time expires, and he takes the round, 10-9, on the MMAjunkie.com card.
Round 2 – Linhares cleans up nicely, but he eats an early jab. Okami circles and misses on a high kick. Linhares lands low. Linhares with less pop and aggression than the first. Okami stuns him again with a jab, then another, but he doesn’t rush in. Jab landing at will for Okami. Now a 1-2. Linhares counters, but Okami gets the best. Left straight for Okami. Lead hook for Okami. Jab. Bang. Bang. There he goes. Bang. Bang. Bang. You want some? Bang. Here I come. Bang. Sorry. Linhares face bloodied again. Left hand and Linhares stumbles forward off the cage. Okami brutalizing Linhares. Frye calls for time to check the cuts. The wounds are under the eyes, but the doctor takes a quick check and waves off the fight. Was probably just a matter of time. GLEISON TIBAU VS. CAOL UNO
Round 1 – Bill Clancy back in the cage. Tibau moves forward to meet Uno. Uno kicks low. Tibau with a nice straight left behind a jab. Uno kicks low, and it catches Tibau in the cup, but he’s back quickly. Traded shots, and Uno throws a low kick. Tibau catches and pushes him to the floor. Tibau on the back, and he stands and pulls Uno up and over to the cage. Tibau pushes off and lands a left hand before backing away. Both fighters jabbing, but Tibau’s size difference is obvious in the cage. Halfway through the round. Jabs missing mostly. Uno gets an uppercut, but Tibau answers over top. Left hand wobbles Uno. A second drops him. Tibau pounces on the back while delivering a few more shots. Uno on his knees. Tibau behind and shoves him to the floor. Tibau simply overpowering Uno. Uno on his back, and Tibau drops a few left hands. Uno turns over, and Tibau drops another series of blows from behind to force the stoppage. Uno tries to stand, but he stumbles into the arms of “Stitch” Duran. Tibau was simply the bigger, more powerful man and overwhelmed Uno from the start. Gleison Tibau def. ROB EMERSON VS. NIK LENTZ
Round 1 – Referee Dan Frye and his jarring UFC T-shirt in charge of the action. Emerson rushes forward. Lentz kicks low and Emerson counters with a straight. Brief flurry from both, and Lentz is fighting with his back to the cage. Emerson leaps in with a big shot. Lentz ties him up and spins off the cage. Emerson punches on the break. Lentz kicks high and Emerson answers in kind. Emerson in the center of the cage. Lentz throws an overhand and shoots, but Lentz shrugs it off. Lentz lands a right. Emerson answers and Lentz stumbles, but he’s OK. Lentz shoots again. Emerson sprawls and lands a big right hook. Lentz shoots again, but Emerson tosses him to the floor. They stand, and Lentz leaps into a standing guillotine. Emerson fights it off, and we’re halfway through. Lentz now ties him up, but no advantage and he moves away. Traded punches and back into the clinch. This time Lentz gets it. Half-guard for Emerson, but he works quickly back up. Knees to the legs exchanged inside. Big left hook for Emerson. Round 2 – Lentz kicks to the body. Emerson leads with a jab but eats a counter. Lentz again to the body with a kick. Lead hook for Emerson. Emerson wants to bang, but he’s wary of the shot. Traded kicks. Lentz shoots in again, but Emerson sprawls well. Lentz pushes forward and ties him up against the cage. Little there, and they break. Three-punch combo rocks Lentz. Another follows. Lentz clinches up and recovers and puts Emerson. Half-mount for Lentz. Short elbows from the top. Lentz looks for a side choke, but Emerson rolls free. Lentz rides the position from the top, though there’s very few shots from the top. Emerson scrambles back to the feet, but Lentz stays on him. EMerson pushes away from the cage. Lentz moves forward and drops from a powerful Emerson shot. Emerson pounces, but Lentz recovers. Emerson looks for a choke, but Lentz slams to the canvas as time expires. Lentz recovers from being briefly rocked to secure the round, 10-9.
Round 3 – Lentz kicks to the ribs to open. Emerson sitting back a bit. Lentz shoots in, but Emerson shucks it off. Leg kicks from Emerson and Lentz wobbles briefly. High kicks from Lentz miss. One minute in. Lentz pushes Emerson to the cage, but he spins off. Lentz puts him right back on it and trips Emerson to the ground. Emerson works from half-guard, and his corner wants him up. He tries to wiggle free, but he ends up pulling guard. Lentz stands and stacks him, and Emerson’s corner begs for him to get up. Lentz rides low on top, pushing down. RONYS TORRES VS. JACOB VOLKMANN
Round 1 – Bill Clancy in charge again. Torres misses on an early flurry and shoots in. Volkmann against the cage. Torres sucks him up, but Volkmann scrambles back to his knees and reverses the position. Torres on his knees, and Volkmann trying to slide to the back. Torres pinned and briefly mounted, but he slides out the back. Volkmann stays tight and Torres is on his knees with his opponent on the back. Volkmann dropping right hands to the body. Torres stands. Volkmann keeps his left arm wrapped around the body and delivers right hands. Torres works back to the floor. Volkmann on his back with Torres in front. Torres tries to kick off the hook, and he eventually spins free and up. Torres now on the back while standing, and Volkmann tags him with a rear elbow. Torres earns the takedown now. Volkmann backs up to the cage. Scramble and back to the feet, and Torres misses some wild hooks but works the fight to the floor again. Volkmann in full guard. with less than a minute. Short elbows from Torres, and Volkmann sweeps, but his opponent works right back to top. The round ends there, and MMAjunkie.com gives it to Volkmann on the early action, 10-9.
Round 2 – Traded rights. Torres kicks to the legs. Torres ducks a right and delivers one of his own. Jab from Torres, but Volkmann answers. Nice flurry from both. Torres lands a big left and gets the better of the exchange, but Volkmann ties him up and works the fight to the floor. Volkmann trying to move to the back. Torres preventing the move, but as he tries to work free Volkmann threatens with a rear-naked choke. It’s only temporary. Torres works to his feet, but Volkmann stays pinned to the back. Back to the floor with two minutes left. Torres again works to his feet, but Volkmann gives him no room to breathe. It’s not exciting, but it’s certainly effective. Volkmann works in a few knees. Torres is preventing the hooks from coming in, but he’s not countering with anything. Volkmann works a few punches in, and he’s staying just busy enough to prevent a restart. The round ends there, and it’s clearly Volkmann’s, 10-9.
Round 3 – Big punches early, and this may be the best spot for Torres. He throws a low kick, and Volkmann powers through it and takes the fight to the floor. Torres in guard. Volkmann postures and delivers a left. Short left hands for Volkmann. He stands, and Torres lands an upkick and tries to secure an arm. He can’t and there’s a scramble. Now Volkmann has a leg, and he tries for the ankle. Volkmann pulls out quickly and avoids danger. Volkmann pushes in again, pushes Torres’ guard aside and moves out to the side in half-mount. Torres tries to roll free two minutes into the round. Torres transitions to his knees and tries to roll for a leg. Volkmann defends it well and delivers punches from the back position. We’re in a familiar spot with Torres turtled up and Volkmann on the back. Torres stands a delivers a back elbow, but Volkmann is riding confidently on the back. Volkmann rolls, but the position remains constant on the back. Torres again on defense as he prevents Volkmann from advancing the back position, but he needs to gamble for a chance to win. He chooses to stall, then briefly works loose, but Volkmann won’t relent. Torres tries a few back elbows, but Volkmann keeps his head tucked on the back and free from danger. Pearson with a left hook, but Siver is fine, and he narrowly misses his own. Halfway into the round. Pearson lands a right and kicks over Siver’s head. Siver with a 1-2 up the pipe. Nice traded shots. A right hand lands for Pearson. Both fighters active and trading. Left high kick to the jaw for Pearson. Clinch, and Pearson moves to the back. Siver thinks leg, but turtles. Pearson with one hook in. The second comes across, and he’s got a body triangle. Siver’s arms posted, but Pearson can’t get the choke. Siver rolls and stands then starts firing wild hooks. Round 3 – Touch of gloves for the third. Pearson kicks low. Again. Siver lands a 1-2 after a few misses jabs. Pearson misses an overhand right. Pearson lands a low kick as the two paw at jabs. Pearson looks fresher, but Siver still throwing with power. Both miss on wild hooks. Siver swings out of his shows on a right but misses. Two minutes in. Siver lands a lead hook. Pearson answers with two straight lefts. Halfway in, and Siver opens up and works the fight to the floor. Pearson pulls guard. Siver postures for an elbow and drops for a leg briefly. Pearson rolls to his knees, and Siver latches on to the head and drives a knee in on the break. Nice low kicks from Pearson. Traded jabs again. Clinch, and Pearson takes the back on the feet. Pearson takes it to the floor and moves too high looking for a submission, so we’re back on the feet. Kick to the ribs from Pearson. Siver with a spinning kick to the body, but it’s lacking zip. Siver earns a takedown in the closing seconds, but Pearson pops back up. NATE QUARRY VS. JORGE RIVERA
Round 1 – Referee Mario Yamasaki makes his debut on the night. Quarry with an early flurry that’s blocked. Quarry kicks the legs, and Rivera has yet to throw. Another low kick. Rivera misses a right and eats a left. Quarry continues to work the leg, and Rivera does the same. Cautious punches from Rivera. Two rights score for Rivera. Quarry misses with his hands but scores to the legs again. Another right from Quarry. The overhand working, and Rivera opening up. Quarry punishing the legs but hasn’t tested the chin. Rivera drops Quarry with a right, but he pops back up. Quarry works in two elbows on the feet. Two minutes in. Quarry sitting back a bit now. Rivera keeping a tight defense and popping the right. Rivera drills him with another right. Quarry dropped again. Quarry on his knees, and Rivera fires right hands. Quarry stands, and he grabs the neck briefly. One minute left. ROY NELSON VS. STEFAN STRUVE
Round 1 – After a brief power outage, both fighters have returned to the cage. Nelson jabs early. Struve kicks low, and Nelson fires shots to the sky. Nelson keeps the action close and drops Struve with a big right hand. Struve stacked against the cage, and Struve blasts him with seven additional punches. Nelson halts briefly, and Struve rolls. Two more shots land. Referee Dan Miragliota watching closely, and he’s forced to call a halt. Nelson’s celebratory belly run sends the arena into a frenzy. Struve sits up quickly. Round 1 – Mario Yamasaki returns for the evening’s final fight. Electric crowd for the main event. Gomi paws jabs. Florian in the center. Cautious start. Missed shots by both. Chants of “Kenny” in the building. One minute in, but nothing yet. There’s the “USA” chants – just 65 seconds. Thank you, Charlotte. Both fighters just short on jabs. Florian kicks low and Gomi counters. Two jabs land for Florian. Left hand for Florian. He grabs the head, and Gomi just evades the knee. Florian kicks low again, and Gomi is sitting on that counter. Florian with another jab. Gomi lands a left, but Florian returns to the jab. Gomi slipping when he plants, and Florian popping him with quicker hands.
