Strikeforce’s Tim Kennedy hopes champ Jake Shields stays but ready if he goes

Fast-rising Strikeforce middleweight contender Tim Kennedy hopes champion Jake Shields remains with the organization.

Kennedy, who delivered Trevor Prangley just the second submission loss of his career this past week at “Strikeforce: Los Angeles,” wants to go about winning a title the right way: by defeating an established champion.

But if Shields does end up signing with the UFC and vacating his belt with Strikeforce, Kennedy told Radio he sees many intriguing matchups that could be part of the organization’s potential eight-man tournament – one that would crown a new champ.
