Rafael Assuncao happy with WEC 43 performance; Urijah Faber up next?

SAN ANTONIO – WEC featherweight Rafael Assuncao (14-1 MMA, 2-0 WEC) has
just two wins by knockout or TKO in his near-six-year career.

So why was he so willing to stand and trade with Canadian slugger Yves
Jabouin (14-5 MMA, 0-1 WEC) on the main card of Saturday night’s “WEC
43: Cerrone vs. Henderson” event?

“I’m trying to make a statement,” Assuncao told MMAjunkie.com following his split-decision win. “I didn’t want
this fight to be a striker vs. grappler type fight. That’s all I had in
mind.”
