DREAM.13 fighters make weight in Japan

All 14 fighters taking part in tonight’s DREAM.13 event successfully made weight for the show.

DREAM.13 takes place at Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan, and airs live in North America on HDNet early tomorrow morning (March 22 at 3 a.m. ET).

DREAM featherweight champion Bibiano Fernandes (138.6 pounds) and challenger Joachim Hansen (138.8) are set for their five-round title fight.

Aside from the title fight, in which Fernandes attempts to make his first successful title defense, the focus of the night will be on Josh Barnett, who just a year and a half ago widely was regarded as the world’s No. 2 heavyweight behind Fedor Emelianenko. However, just prior to a scheduled Affliction fight with the Russian, Barnett failed a drug test (for a steroid), the fight was scrapped, and Barnett’s still-ongoing appeal with the California State Athletic Commission forced him to tumble in the rankings.

Barnett weighed 253.5 pounds; opponent Siala “Mighty Mo” Siligia weighed the same.

Former EliteXC lightweight champion K.J. Noons (158.3) and Andre “Dida” Amade (157.6) were slightly off weight and agreed to continue anyway.
