Bendy Casimir vs. Ricardo Lamas
Round 1

Bendy Casimir.
Lamas pushes forward and lands a nice low kick, Casimir answers with punches to the head. Lamas advances again and lands a two punch combination followed by a leg kick. Casimir returns fire with an inside low kick. A spirited Lamas didn’t care for the shot to his inner thigh and responded with a flurry finalized by a head kick that sent Casimir backwards to the cage. After a brief tussle along the fence Lamas could not secure the takedown and the fighters returned to the center of the ring. Lamas then loaded up a flying knee that flattened Casimir. The left knee followed a right knee feint that sent Casimir sprawling down towards Lamas legs and right into the knockout blow. Referee Greg Franklin stepped in to save Casimir at 3:43 of the first round.

Courtney Buck vs. Fredson Paixao

Fredson Paixao vs. Courtney Buck.
Round 1
Buck tries to walk down Paixao but his shorter opponent circles away. Paixao shoots in about 40 seconds into the match and secures a single-leg takedown. Paixao immediately takes his back and sinks his hooks. Paixao is softening Buck up with shots from back mount while he searches for the rear-naked choke. Buck gets to his knees for a brief second but Paixao rolls him back over before slipping his arm under Buck’s chin to lock in the submission. Buck tries to fight it but eventually loses consciousness. Referee Mark Matheny checks his left arm but it is limp and he calls the bout at 2:39 of the first round.

Leonard Garcia vs. George Roop
Round 1
R1 Garcia low kicks to open the action, but Roop shrugs it off. Roop is headhunting early on while Garcia keeps his attack focused on the legs of his lanky opponent. Roop shoots in and secures the takedown, Garcia establishes his guard right away. Garcia cinches a guillotine, but can’t get any leverage on the choke with Roop pushing his shoulder into his chest. Roop pulls his head free and works some ground-and-pound. Garcia escapes back to his feet after a short scramble and lands some good shots in the final minute of the first round. Sherdog.com scores the first round 10-9 for Roop on the strength of his work from the top.

George Roop vs. Leonard Garcia.
Round 2
Garcia heads back downstairs to start the second, lowkicking Roop to the legs and then loudly to the body. Roop waves Garcia on after a nice right. Roop tries clinching but Garcia shrugs him off. Garcia is looking a bit winded ever since the failed guillotine in the first. Roop drives in for another takedown and plants Garcia along the cage. Roop keeps Garcia stacked to lessen the chances of a submission attempt from the bottom. He improves position and tries to knee to the body, but referee Kevin Mulhall mistakenly thought it was to the head and separated the fighters. He warned Roop and restarted the bout. Garcia, perhaps feeling a bit desperate, launched into a full offensive. He lands some nice shots but Roop answers back as the round closes. Sherdog.com scores round two 10-9 for Roop.

Round 3
Roop looks the fresher of the two as the final round gets underway. He pots shots Garcia with the jab and then lands a nice head-kick that is partially blocked by Garcia. Roop drives in and scores another double-leg takedown but Garcia finds his way back to his feet quickly. Garcia drills Roop with a nice right and follows with a knee along the cage but Roop retreats unscathed. Roop connects to the groin of Garcia and Mulhall decides to take a point. On the restart, Garcia attacks wildly with punches before Roop takes him down yet again. The two fighters scrap frantically as the seconds tick down. Big shots are landed but both fighters remain upright until the final bell. Sherdog.com scores the final round 9-9 with the point deduction.

The official scores are 29-27 for Roop, 29-27 for Garcia and 28-28 for a split draw.

Danny Castillo vs. Anthony Pettis

Anthony Pettis vs. Danny Castillo.
Round 1
Fighters are feeling each other out a bit before Castillo lands a heavy low kick about 45 seconds into the bout. Pettis lurches forward with strikes and Castillo drops under for the takedown. Pettis tries to establish position but Castillo retreats back to his feat before he can even look for a submission. Castillo bullies Pettis into the cage and lands a hard knee to the groin that doubles Pettis over. The referee steps in and breaks the fight to allow him to recover. Just after the restart Pettis lands a blistering left-head kick to the head of Castillo that flat lines him. Pettis followed with punches until the referee Jerry Poe could get there to pull him away at 2:17 of the round.

Chad Mendes vs. Erik Koch
Round 1
Mendes bullies his way inside right off the bat but Koch escapes his clinch in swift fashion. Koch pops his jab but Mendes changes levels and pushes him back against the cage. Koch fights his way clear again and the crowd lets the fighters know they don’t appreciate the slow pace. Mendes finally gets the fight to the ground but Koch sits right up and tries to use the cage to walk back to his feet. Mendes fights to keep him down but can’t. Koch misses with a jab and gets slammed to the mat after Mendes drives him all the way across the cage. Koch works the rubber guard and strikes from the bottom. Mendes breaks the free and throws an elbow but his offense is limited. He tries to jump past the guard of Koch but is still snared as the round closes. The close round goes to Mendes 10-9.

Round 2

Chad Mendes vs. Erik Koch.
Mendes leaps in with a single right hand to kick off the second. Koch answers with a combination but is put on his back with a Mendes double for his effort. Koch works the rubber guard again while Mendes tries to get a little ground and pound attack going. Koch slips the leg in front of Mendes head but he defends by pulling his arm out and sitting back down in the guard. Mendes passes to half and tries to pin Koch’s left arm with his knee. He catches it for a second and lands a couple soft punches. Koch gets his guard back but Mendes is getting into the ground game. He lands a pair of hard elbows and a big left hand. Mendes passed to half again but Koch shrimps and goes for a kimura as the horn sounds. Round two clearly goes to Mendes 10-9 though the crowd is not enthralled by the ground struggle.

Round 3
Mendes kicks off the third with some chopping low kicks. Koch clinches as his corner Pat Barry urges him on, screaming “Go, you gotta go,” over and over. Mendes is cut outside the left eye, not sure if it was a punch or a head butt. Mendes puts Koch on the canvas again but can’t establish position before referee Greg Franklin stands them back up. The ringside physician checks Mendes cut and allows the bout to continue. Blood in pouring down the left side of Mendes face as Koch targets the cut with his jab. Mendes takes the fight back down with about 90 seconds to go but as Koch gets back to his feet Mendes inadvertently pokes him in the eye. Koch drops to the canvas in pain and Franklin breaks to allow him to recover. Mendes takes him right back down on the restart and lands a couple elbows before time expires. Round three goes to Mendes 10-9.

The official scores are 30-27 for Mendes on all three cards.

Scott Jorgensen vs. Chad George.
Scott Jorgensen vs. Chad George
Round 1
Jorgensen easily stuffs George’s shot to begin the fight. He takes hold of his neck and locks up a tight guillotine. George tries to back his way out but Jorgensen pins him along the cage and lifts him off the ground. George taps out at 31 seconds giving Jorgensen the win.

It was a vicious submission that left George in pain on the mat.

Bart Palaszewski vs. Karen Darabedyan

Palaszewski vs. Darabedyan.
Kevin Mulhall is your referee for the main card opener. Thirty seconds pass without the fighters touching. Both feinting. Palaszewski lands a kick to the leg. Darabedyan backs him into the cage and lights him up with lefts and rights before dumping him to the canvas. Palaszewski moves to his closed guard. Palaszewski climbs up with legs. Darabedyan postures out and punches. Palaszewski circles away from the cage. Darabedyan in his opponent’s half guard. 2:40 to go. Darabedyan delivers some short hammerfists and bigger punches before Palaszewski gets his closed guard back. Darabedyan breaks Palaszewski’s guard open and lands more punches. Palaszewski not close to a submission, only getting hit when he opens his guard. A minute to go. Palaszewski opens his guard and tries to hook an arm. Then Palaszewski sinks a
straight armbar, and Darabedyan tries to fight it off, but Palaszewski taps him for the win. Official time is 4:40.

Deividas Taurosevicius vs. L.C. Davis
Round 1
Jerry Poe is reffing. Both fighters in southpaw stances. Taurosevicius takes the center of the cage. They lock up after Davis ducks under a jab. He pushes Taurosevicius to the fence. Taurosevicius has one overhook and they trade short strikes on the opposite side. Taurosevicius reverses Davis to put Davis’ back against the fence, but Davis defends a takedown and puts Taurosevicius’ back against the fence again. 2:40 to go. The fighters are separated and restarted. Inside kick from Taurosevicius. Davis sticks Taurosevicius with a jab and they lock up with Taurosevicius against the cage. They trade knees to the body. Davis drops down for a single, stands back up when it isn’t there. Taurosevicius reverses Davis against the cage and tries for a single that fails. Taurosevicius tries for another single and then goes to a body lock, and Davis shows strong defense as the round ends.

Davis vs. Taurosevicius.
An exchange begins the second without anything major landing. Both men back away when the other throws. Taurosevicius shoots for a double, and Davis defends against the fence. Taurosevicius switches to a single, and Davis sprawls on it, showing good defense, but Taurosevicius stays with it until he takes the top position on the ground. Davis working on standing up against the cage, and Taurosevicius trying to control him. Davis stands up without taking any damage. They’re clinched against the cage, 2:35 to go. Taurosevicius knees low and Davis groans, but the ref doesn’t intervene. Davis turns Taurosevicius around against the fence. Short punches and knees from both. They’re separated at 1:08 and restarted. One-two from Davis glances. Right hook from Davis glances, and they clinch again, with Taurosevicius working on a single-leg. Davis defends and tries for a double-leg that Taurosevicius defends.

Round 3
Neither fighter wants to stay in the pocket and exchange. They take turns throwing and backing away and then clinch against the cage again. Taurosevicius works on a body lock. Taurosevicius misses a big elbow, and Davis reverses and then breaks. 3:00 to go. Davis ducks under some strikes for a takedown attempt, but it isn’t close. Taurosevicius works on a single-leg against the fence. Davis uses an overhook to stand him up, but Taurosevicius digs deep for a double-leg attempt. Davis defends well, and they’re restarted at 2:10 in the center. Davis throws a straight left and almost loses his footing and then finally hits a double-leg to ground Taurosevicius. Taurosevicius locks up Davis’ shoulder from the bottom and throws short punches until they’re stood up. 30 seconds to go. Taurosevicius misses a takedown and pushes Davis to the fence. Some boos from the audience, and the horn sounds, sending the fight to the judges.

Jens Pulver vs. Javier Vazquez
Round 1

Javier Vazquez vs. Jens Pulver.
Greg Franklin, brother of Rich Franklin is the referee. Pulver kicks to the thigh, and Vazquez tries to grab it for a takedown. Pulver defends. Vazquez pursues with punches and grabs another kick, but Pulver tries a guillotine. He rolls Vazquez to his back. Vazquez escapes, but Pulvers stands out. Back on the feet. Pulver kicks to the thigh again, and Vazquez gets the takedown. He takes Pulver’s back as Pulver tries to stand, but Pulver reverses and a quick-paced fight goes to Vazquez’s closed guard. 3:15 in. Pulver stands out and tries to kick, which Vazquez uses to take down Pulver. He works in Pulver’s butterfly guard and moves into side control. Vazquez locks up a crucifix and peppers Pulver’s ear. Pulver shoots his arms under Vazquez, who maintains control and goes to Pulver’s back with both hooks.

Vazquez tries to sink the rear-naked choke, but Pulver defends. Big lump on Pulver’s forehead. Vazquez stays on him, moves into mount and straightens Pulver’s arm for an armbar and the win. Dominant grappling by Vazquez. Official time is 3:41.

Miguel Torres vs. Joseph Benavidez
Round 1
Mark Matheny is reffing. Torres flicks an inside leg kick. Benavidez standing in the center of the cage, Torres circling. Straight left from Benavidez out of a southpaw stance glances. Benavidez goes back conventional, and Torres kicks to his leg. Benavidez kicks back to Torres’ leg. Hard right from Benavidez during an exchange. Good leg kick by Benavidez, and he catches a kick and Torres trips. Torres stands back up. Benavidez closes against the cage. Benavidez throws Torres to the mat. 1:50 to go. Torres misses an armbar. Benavidez controls the head to keep Torres down. Now he’s working an arm-in guillotine that isn’t deep but does keep Torres on the mat. Torres has half guard, but Benavidez is controlling him. Torres regains full guard with 30 seconds to go. The round closes with Benavidez standing.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Miguel Torres.
Round 2
Benavidez holds his hands very high to start the second. Torres kicks into his arms. Torres circles. Benavidez switches stances and switches back conventional and drives a right hand into Torres’ body. Torres lands a jab. He misses a right and kicks to the body. Benavidez goes southpaw again and kicks to the body. Torres jabs. Benavidez kicks to the leg. Benavidez goes southpaw and shoots for a slick takedown and gets it. On the ground, Benavidez begins elbowing and opens Torres, who is bleeding badly. Torres misses an armbar and tries to roll out and grab a single-leg. Benavidez locks up a guillotine and rolls Torres. It’s deep, and a bloodied Torres taps. Official time is 2:57 of round two.

Brian Bowles vs. Dominick Cruz
Round 1
Kevin Mulhall is the ref for the main event. Cruz kicks to the thigh, and Bowles misses with a straight right counter. Cruz is moving around while Bowles looks for the KO. Good right from Cruz. He misses a wild left. He’s showing Bowles a variety of angles. Bowles glances him with an uppercut. Both fighters connect with rights. They break, and Cruz lands another right that hurts Bowles. Bowles breaks to recover. Cruz hopping in and out. He misses another wild right. 2:00 to go. Cruz counters with another right hand. Cruz gets a takedown with 1:15 left. Bowles gets up with 30 seconds left. Solid leg kick by Cruz.

Round 2
Both fighters jumping in and out of exchanges. Cruz lands the first good strike of the round, a kick to Bowles’ lead leg. Bowles tries to crowd Cruz and gets hit with a right on his ear. Bowles covers up, and Cruz flurries on him with a combo that ends with a low kick that drops Bowles. Bowles gets up. 2:35 to go. Cruz kicks low and nearly gets countered by a Bowles’ right hand. Another good low kick from Cruz. His footwork is looking superior, and he’s using his length to flurry, kick and separate. An accidental low strike from Cruz halts the action. It was a knee and follow-up kick. Cruz jabs. Bowles still swinging for the fences while Cruz dips in and out and throws a variety of strikes. Bowles lands, but Cruz responds with his hands. Cruz finishes a takedown to close out the round.

The fight is over. The doctor appears to have stopped the fight between rounds while examining Bowles. The official word is that Bowles did not answer the bell due to “injury,” and Cruz is the new champion. Bowles said he broke his hand on his first punch.

Round 1
Fight begins and Pokrajac drops Te Huna and follows him to the ground. Te Huna reverses the position and starts some ground-and-pound from an open guard. Lands a massive right and referee Steve Percival stands them up shortly after. Pokrajac comes forward with solid punches. Te Huna avoids the takdown and the fighters move against the cage. Pokrajac unloads. Te Huna with a big slam and unloads with solid punches and elbows to finish the round. Te Huna 10-9.

Round 2
Te Huna clinches early and attempts a takedown against the cage. Pokrajac again gets lifted and slammed. Te Huna is showing great physical strength. Te Huna unloads with punches against the cage. The referee advises to be more active. Stands them up and Pokrajac lands a big knee. Slam by Te Huna again and ends up in Pokrajac’s guard. Te Huna looks tired and the referee stands them up again. Both fighters exchange big punches, and Pokrajac is getting the better of the exchanges. Pokrajac lifts Te Huna up, but can not put him on the canvas with a big right. Te Huna connects with knees. Pokrajac is unloading with big punches that drop Te Huna. Pokrajac attempts to finish the fight, but time runs out in the round. Pokrajac 10-9.

Round 3
Te Huna starts round three with another big punch. Te Huna is on top in half guard. he moves to the mount and Pokrajac turns. Te Huna gets the back however Pokrajac scrambles back to his feet. The fighters are against the cage and Pokrajac gets a takedown. Te Huna immediately gets back to his feet and Te Huna gets another takedown. Te huna in Pokrajac’s closed guard. Both fighters are looking tired. Pokrajac attempts to get up but is met by a right and ends up on his back. Te Huna unloads with a flurry of punches and the referee stops the fight. Te Huna is the winner 3.26 into the third round.

C.B. Dollaway vs. Goran Reljic
Round 1
Slow pace to begin the fight. Reljic lands two solid low kicks. Dollaway attempts a takedown, but Reljic ends up on top with Dollaway pulling guard. Dollaway attempts to get up and Reljic unloads. Back on their feet and the fighters exchange punches. An ancidental eye poke by Dollaway forces the referee to halt the fight briefly. The action resumes and Reljic lands a low kick and Dollaway goes for a takedown. Following a referee standup, Dalloway gets a takedown and puts Reljic on his back. Reljic stands straight back up and Dalloway gets another takedown to Reljic’s open guard. The fighters scramble and get back up on their feet where they finish the round. 10-9 Reljic.

Round 2
Good low kicks by Reljic, but Dalloway gets the takedown and is attempting to get to half guard. Reljic attempts an armbar from the bottom and Dollaway was having none of it. The fighters stand and Dollaway lands a head kick. Reljic comes back with a body kick and another solid kick to the midsection. Reljic counters Dollaway with a massive right and gets the takedown straight away. The fighters are against the cage. Dollaway with head shots against the cage. Reljic attempts another armbar, but can not lock it up. Fighters stand up and Dollaway lands a kick. Reljic comes forward and lands a big body punch to finish the round. 10-9 Dollaway.

Round 3
Dollaway comes forward with a one-two combo followed by a takedown that puts Pokrajac on his back against the cage. Reljic is looking for a kimura and the crowd boos as Dollaway uses guard to get up. Dollaway is on top inside the guard, but Reljic stands back up and comes forward to unload with punches and kicks. Dollaway gets a takedown and Reljic reverses the position. Tries to go to mount but ends up in side control instead, where he traps Dollaway’s arm in a crucifix. Elbows from Reljic. Dollaway escapes and gets the top position inside Reljic’s closed guard. Reljic is using the rubber guard and Dollaway powers out of it. Dolloway 10-9.

C.B. Dollaway takes the unanimous decision with scores of 29-28 on all three cards.
Chris Lytle vs. Brian Foster
Round 1
Lytle with a big overhand right that misses. Another wild punch from Lytle and Foster counters with a takedown. Lytle is up on his feet straight away. Lytle throws a big overhead and Foster counters with a right. A spinning-back kick followed by a head kick from Foster gets claps from the crowd. A left hook from Lytle stuns Foster. Foster attempts a takedown, but Lytle counters and locks up a kneebar and forces the tap from Foster. The hold is gruesome and Foster is helped from the cage at 1:41 of the first.
Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski


Round 1
Soszynski comes out strong and lands a nice knee while pressing his opponent against the cage. Bonnar gets an eye poke in, and claims it was a punch. The referee calls time and restarts the action immediately after. Bonnar shoots in, but can not get the takedown. Bonnar is bleeding from the nose. Soszynski with a kick, which Bonnar grabs and takes him to the ground. Soszynski is back on his feet and Bonnar follows. Soszynski lands a big uppercut and the blood is really leaking out of Bonnar now. Another flurry, which Soszysnki gets the better off to finish the round. 10-9 Soszynski.

Round 2
Bonnar comes out hard with a flurry of punches. Both guys are throwing heavy leather against the cage. Bonnar starting to find his mark with the hands. Bonnar clinches against the cage and lands elbows from the inside. A nice left from Soszynski and then a right that hit Bonnar on the button. Bonnar comes back with a spinning-back kick and a kick to the body that gets a raise from the crowd. Soszynski comes back with a head kick that Bonnar caught and swept to the ground to end the round. 10-9 Bonnar.

Round 3
Bonnar attempts a single leg shot, but couldn’t get it and the fighters end up against the cage. Bonnar is opened up badly and bleeding everywhere. The cut looked like it came from an accidental head butt. The referee stops the fight for the doctor to have a look at. Doctor recommends that the fight be stopped and the referee calls it. TKO victory to Soszysnki. Bonnar questions if should the fight should had been stopped as it was a head butt. The official time is 1:04 of the opening frame.
Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Anthony Perosh
Round 1
Cro Cop comes forward and misses an uppercut and a left head kick. Perosh is retreating early. Perosh shoots for a single and the striker defends it easily and punishes his foe with hammerfists. Cro Cop controls the head and lets Perosh back to his feet. Cro Cop lands a straight left that knocks Perosh backwards. Perosh shoots and Cro Cop defends. Cro Cop stuffs another takedown against the fencing. Cro Cop showing signs of fatigue at the midway point of the first frame. The Croatian lands another left straight and stops a shot in its tracks. And another. Perosh is bleeding from the nose and mouth. Perosh lands a left hook and a right straight. Perosh is mostly stepping backwards at this point. When Cro Cop cuts off the Octagon, Perosh drops levels and fails on the shot time after time. Cro Cop lands an uppercut at the horn.

Perosh opens up with his hands and Cro Cop sneaks in a left-handed uppercut and stops a follow-up shot. Cro Cop steps forward and lands a left hand. Cro Cop lands a kick to the body and connects with two low kicks. Cro Cop steps backwards and Perosh loses all momentum with yet another failed takedown attempt. Filipovic ties up the head for a minute and then lets his foe up. Cro Cop chases his feeling prey to the fence and the frightened Perosh shoots desperately. Perosh ends up pulling guard and Cro Cop cuts him with a vicious elbow from the guard. Blood pours out onto the canvas. Referee Herb Dean has the cut examined and does a good job in keeping Cro Cop’s cornermen out of the Octagon. The fight is resumed and Cro Cop pummels the bleeding fighter with punches after yet another failed shot.

Keith Jardine vs. Ryan Bader
Round 1
Jardine misses a wild right hand. Jardine clips Jardine with a right hand and then follows by going to the clinch. Bader is pressing his opponent against the cage. Bader lets go to punch and eats a right hand for his efforts. The fighters trade ineffective strikes and then Jardine gets sloppy, which allows Bader to get an easy single-leg takedown. Jardine gets to guard and works for a sweep. Bader passes and moves back to half guard. Bader elbows the thigh from the top position and then elbows the head with his right arm. Jardine gets a butterfly guard, but Bader easily passes back to half, where he rains down more elbows to the head. Referee Josh Rosenthal stands the fighters and Bader swings wildly. He misses by a large margin. Jardine gets in a low kick at the horn.

Round 2
Bader looks for the takedown early in round two. He presses Jardine against the cage, but Jardine defends the level change with underhooks. Bader lets his foe off the fence and then men return to the center of the Octagon. Bader shoots and again Jardine ties him up. Bader powers his opponent to the cage and drops down for a single. Jardine places a knee on the canvas and uses wrist control on the right arm to stay planted. Bader stands and Jardine follows. Bader connects with a clean straight right. Jardine gets in a jab and an ugly right hand. Jardine easily sprawls on a double. The Greg Jackson product lands a low kick and stuffs another shot. Jardine’s takedown defense is solid throughout the second stanza until Bader briefly trips him up at the five second mark.

Round 3
Bader telegraphs a shot from long distance. Jardine defends and misses a low kick. Bader checks two straight low kicks and is taken down. Jardine bounces back up quickly and lands a low kick. Bader connects with a right hand that buckles Jardine’s knees. Sensing the end, Bader attacks with a flying knee that connects with the chest. Jardine backs up and is knocked down with a left hook. His eyes roll back and referee Josh Rosenthal stops the contest at 2:10 of the third, giving Ryan Bader the technical knockout.

Joe Stevenson vs. George Sotiropoulos
Round 1
Sotiropoulos fights to get a takedown throughout the first minute and he eventually gets it when Stevenson gives up and pulls guard. Sotiropoulos works from the top and gets to half guard. Stevenson holds the trapped leg tight and Sotiropoulos is 100 percent focused on passing. Sotiropoulos gets free and Stevenson locks up an arm triangle from the bottom in side control. Sotiropoulos escapes easily and moves to mount. Sotiropoulos goes to Stevenson’s back and then to side control. Sotiropoulos looks for a kimura to armbar transition, but he runs out of time. The crowd goes nuts for the Aussie fighter’s dominating round.

Round 2
Sotiropoulos drops Stevenson to a knee with a left straight. Stevenson tries a weak “Superman” punch and falls short. Stevenson has a low kick checked. Sotiropoulos starts to find his range with both hands as he tags the chin with a left and a right. Stevenson shoots and gets an effortless single. Stevenson moves him to the fence and Sotiropoulos secures mission control from the rubber guard. He rolls for an omoplata and the hold is tight. Stevenson is forced on to his back and Sotiropoulos letsd go to control from side control. Stevenson gets back to guard and Sotiropoulos locks on an armbar. Stevenson escapes and moves to the guard of his foe. With his head against the fence, Sotiropoulos closes his guard. He opens it and Stevenson drops down for a nasty Achilles hold. Sotiropoulos grimaces, but powers through the hold. Sotiropoulos works an arm triangle as the round ends.

Round 3
Sotiropoulos cracks Stevenson with a left hook that knocks spit from his mouth. Sotiropoulos ties up and Stevenson pulls guard with a guillotine. Sotiropoulos escapes and Stevenson works for a double and then a single. Sotiropoulos trips Stevenson, but can’t hold him down. Sotiropoulos double jabs in the center of the cage. A right hand connects for Sotiropoulos and Stevenson gets stuffed on two straight takedowns. Sotiropoulos throws Stevenson to the floor, but Stevenson ends up in the top position in half guard. The fighters scramble for position and stand before Stevenson secures a trip takedown. Sotiropoulos ties him up from the bottom in the final 10 seconds of the bout. Great fight.

Wanderlei Silva vs. Michael Bisping

Round 1: Big feeling-out process early. A minute in, Bisping takes him down. Silva gets right back up, Bisping lands a knee from the clinch. Body kick by Bisping, but Silva shrugs it off. Bisping takes him down again, and Silva again returns to his feet quickly, but Bisping lands a hook as he’s getting up. Early advantage to Bisping. Silva lands a right hand as the clock reaches 90 seconds remaining. Silva lands a series of leg kicks, and then his first flurry with a minute remaining. Bisping answers with a hard right seconds later. Bisping tries another takedown, but this time Silva stops it. Silva flurries at the end of the round, but it’s still Bisping’s round, 10-9, as MMA Fighting sees it.

Round 2: Bisping went for a kick, Silva caught it and took him down with a trip. Bisping escaped to his feet, although Silva scored with a body kick on the way up. Silva landed a powerful straight right at the midway point, backing Bisping up. Moments later, Bisping scored another takedown. Silva scrambled and exploded free. This fight is different than most expectations, as the usually aggressive fighters are much more conservative than usual. Still entertaining, just different. Bisping scores another takedown, but Silva sinks in a guillotine as time runs low. Silva squeezes for all he’s worth, but the round ends, saving Bisping. A very close round, that MMA Fighting scores for Silva, 10-9.

Round 3: Silva draws first blood in the round with a straight right. About 90 seconds into the round, Bisping landed a kick below the belt, causing a timeout. They fight on. The two exchange kicks. Bisping shoots, but Silva sprawls. The fans start a “Silva” chant, and he urges them on, even while avoiding Bisping punches. Silva stuffs another takedown try. Ninety seconds left, and another timeout as Silva suffers an eyepoke.Silva pushes forward as the round winds down. Bisping is avoiding most of the fire. Silva catches another leg kick and sweeps him down again, but Bisping back to his feet quickly. This could have been a razor close decision, a judge’s nightmare, until Silva made a final statement with a right hand behind the ear that dropped Bisping just before the horn. MMA Fighting scores the round for Silva, 10-9.

Winner: Silva via unanimous decision (29-28, 3x



Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez

Round 1: No touch of gloves. They exchange punch combos. Velasquez lands with leg kicks. Velasquez connects with a left. Nogueira throws a jab and Velasquez bobs away. Velasquez hits with another leg kick. Velasquez tags Nogueira and Nogueira doesn’t even flinch. Velasquez lands a jab and leg kick. He lands the combo again. A high kick is blocked. Nogueira shoots out jabs and misses. Velasquez with another leg kick. Short exchange. Velasquez lands a knee to the body. Velasquez’s boxing looks much improved. He’s also utilizing kicks really well. Velasquez drops Nogueira with a left to the chin followed by a right just above Nogueira’s right ear. Velasquez drops five unanswered punches and Nogueira is out.

Homasi swings wildly over the top of Kelly’s head, Kelly clinches but Homasi shrugs him off. Homasi gets a takedown but Kelly is right back up to his feet. The two fighters exchange frantically with neither landing much of consequence. Homasi is put on his back by a trip takedown and Kelly quickly moves to mount. Kelly delivering blows from the top position before moving to his back. Homasi defends and gets back to his feet as time expires. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Kelly.

Round 2
Homasi takes top position but is swept. Kelly works a rear naked-choke while Homasi continues to defend.

He works his way clear of the attacking arm for a moment but Kelly slips it back under his chin and cinches the submission. Homasi taps out at 2:48 of the second round.

Hayder Hassan vs. Ryan Keenan
Round 1
Not much action as the two fighters feel each other out. Hassan steps in for a combination and Keenan counters with neither fighter landing. Hassan is moving forward and finally lands the first meaningful shot of the fight but is immediately countered by Keenan with a solid right hand. Hassan corners Kennan along the cage and blasts him with a sequence of punches that leaves him stumbling to the mat. Hassan follows him down and lands a few more before standing back up and allowing Keenan to stand. Hassan lands another flurry that sends Keenan is back peddling again. Sherdog.com tallies the first round 10-9 for Hassan.

Round 2
Hassan, still moving forward, punishes Keenan with another three-punch combination. Keenan still looking fresh while Hassan is starting to breathe a little heavier. Hassan darts in and launches another salvo of punches along the cage, catching Keenan as he tried to return fire with a big right hand the knocks him unconscious at 2:42 of the second round.

Pablo Alfonso vs. Marcos da Matta
Round 1
Alfonso leads with his left and pops da Matta with a nice combination. Again, Alfonso slides a lead left from his southpaw stance to the head of da Matta. Da Matta shoots in for a takedown, but Alfonso locks up a guillotine and falls to his back. Da Matta escapes but immediately gets caught in a tight armbar that forces him to tapout at 1:47 of the first round.

Craig Oxley vs. David Gomez
Round 1
Gomez rushes in for a shot and bullies Oxley to the mat. Oxley grabs a loose guillotine choke and uses it to sweep Gomez to his back. Oxley gives up the hold as he tries to move to mount but Gomez uses the opening to scramble back to the top and into side control. Oxley gets his guard back but Gomez is undeterred, landing punches from the top. Gomez stands in the guard and unloads again before settling back into the guard. The bell sounds and Gomez lands one more punch for good measure. Oxley is not appreciative of the gesture and clobbers him back before the two separate and head back to their corners. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Gomez.

Gomez vs. Oxley.

Round 2
Gomez shoots and hits a takedown to begin the second frame. He tries to take the back but Oxley scrambles free. The fighters engage in a leg lock battle with neither fighter gaining an advantage. Gomez rolls back to top position in Oxley’s guard. Oxley sweeps from half guard and puts Gomez on his back for a moment. As they scramble, Oxley tries to lock up a triangle but Gomez defends. After a brief lull on the ground the fighters are brought back to the center of the cage. On the restart, Oxley lands a nice two-punch combination and finishes off the round with a spinning-back kick. Oxley looks to have injured his knee on the kick. He falls to the ground but quickly jumps back to his feet and limps to his corner. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Oxley.

Round 3
Gomez shoots back in to start the third and plants Oxley on the mat. Not a whole lot of action going on here as Gomez seems content to sit in Oxley’s guard. Oxley goes for a triangle but Gomez easily defends and moves to side control. Oxley gets his guard back, but can’t really do much as the round comes to a close. Sherdog.com scores the final period 10-9 for Gomez.

Ray vs. Clarke.

John Clarke vs. Joe Ray
Round 1
Clarke pushes Ray up along the cage and works for a takedown. Ray uses an underhook to keep Clarke away from his legs and the two stalemate. Ray lands a nice knee from the clinch but there is not much else going. Referee Jorge Ortiz breaks the fight and restarts it in the center of the cage. Ray lands a big knee that staggers Clarke. He throws him to the canvas and follows up with punches that force Ortiz to halt the action at 3:14 of the first round.

Jay Hieron vs. Joe Riggs
Round 1
Riggs paws with his jab while Hieron circles looking for an opening as the welterweight contender match gets underway. Hieron leaps in with a nice right hand that Riggs takes well before changing levels for a takedown. Hieron retreats and they reset in the middle of the cage. Hieron lands another lead right hand. Hieron with a two-punch combination punctuated with a spinning back-kick that lands to Riggs shoulder. Riggs moving forward now but it is Hieron landing most of the meaningful shots. Riggs throws a superman punch but Hieron ducks under and takes him to the ground with a body-lock. There is zero action on the ground before the round closes. Jay Hieron takes the first round 10-9 on the Sherdog.com scorecard.

Round 2
Riggs, from his southpaw stance, continues to push forward as the second period gets started. He has only thrown single shots up to this point while Hieron has been throwing more shots in bunches. Hieron takes the fight back to the floor early in the round and settles into Riggs’ guard. Hieron pounds away, unabated, at the body of Riggs with right hands until his opponent ties him up. Apparently the crowd is not pleased with the tactical fight that is being waged and they shower the cage with boos. Hieron finally lands a good shot from the top and the crowd briefly stirs. Riggs walks up the cage to get back to his feet as the 10 second warning sounds and the round closes with the fighters clinched along the cage. Sherdog.com deposits another round in Hieron’s bank, 10-9.

Hieron vs. Riggs.

Round 3
Riggs’ trainer Trevor Lally implores him to attack Hieron who he claims is tiring as he emerges from his corner to start the third frame. Riggs answers his pleas with a bruising right hook that hurts Hieron. A wobbly Hieron answered back with a takedown and some ground and pound. Referee Frank Gentile deems there is a dearth of action and returns the fighters to the standing position. Hieron is sporting some blood around his left eye, possibly from the earlier punch. Riggs walks right into a short left hook that puts him down. Hieron pounces and tries to finish but Riggs survives to the end of the round. Sherdog.com scores the final round 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Jay Hieron.

Official scores are 29-28 and 30-27 (twice) for Jay Hieron. The Las Vegas-based fighter takes the unanimous decision.

Round 1
Sims holds his left hand high, asking Lashley for a test of strength. Lashley ignores it and ducks under a right hand before getting a single-leg takedown. Lashley postures on Sims’ high guard and delivers right hands to the head. Sims closes his guard and Lashley pounds away exclusively with his right hand. Sims is eating some leather. The Hammer House product turns his back to avoid punishment and Lashley unloads. Referee Troy Waugh steps in to halt the contest prematurely. Sims complains, but he offered little defense. The official time is 2:06 of the opening frame.

Robbie Lawler vs. Melvin Manhoef

Lawler vs. Manhoef.

Manhoef takes the center of the cage and Lawler circles away. Lawler misses a kick to the head and Manhoef drills him with a kick to the body. Manhoef blocks another head kick attempt and the crowd grows restless. Manhoef lands another kick to the ribs 90 seconds in. Lawler misses a low kick and Manhoef connects with a sharp kick to Lawler’s lead leg. Manhoef roughs up Lawler’s leg and piles it on to the body. Manhoef opens up with his hands and lands a right end to finish off a flurry. Manhoef is bullying the UFC and Pride veteran with kicks and punches. Manhoef connects with a jumping knee to the chest and continues to unload with uppercuts and hooks. Just when it looked as if Lawler wanted out of the fight, he lands a right-hand counter that stops his opponent in his tracks.

Manhoef slowly falls and Lawler crushes him with a brutal left hook for good measure. Manhoef lays motionless for several tense moments, but eventually gets to his feet under his own power. The official time is 3:33 of round one.

Herschel Walker vs. Greg Nagy
Round 1
Walker falls short on a jab, but connects on his second attempt. Walker lands a low kick to Nagy’s left leg. And another. Walker is dancing, taunting his opponent. He throws another low kick that hurts Nagy. Walker sprawls on a lazy double attempt and controls the head in a four-point position. Walker transitions to the top and begins to hit the head with both hands from half guard. Nagy goes high with his hips in search of an armbar, but Walker has none of it. Walker is controlling from the top like a savvy veteran, pushing the right leg down and controlling the wrists. Nagy sets up a heel hook and Walker escapes. 90 seconds remain in the first stanza. Walker moves to north-douth position and is warned for punching the back of the head by referee Troy Waugh. Walker pins Nagy’s left arm under his left leg and works a one-arm kimura on his foe’s left arm. Walker lands punches to the head with his right hand as the round ends.

Walker vs. Nagy.

Walker goes to work on Nagy’s left leg with two early low kicks. Walker effortlessly slams Nagy to the canvas and lands directly into side control. Walker punches the back of the head and gets away with it. Waugh’s view was obstructed and did not see the fouls. Walker transitions to Nagy’s back, and coolly flattens him out. Nagy turns over, and Walker has a smothering high mount. Nagy gets to his feet and eats a knee on the mouth. Walker pushes his opponent’s head to the floor and sprawls on a single leg. Walker moves to his back, and he secures both hooks. The former runningback legend punches the head with both hands and Nagy has no defense for the tight positioning. Walker moves to mount before the round ends.

Round 3
Nagy comes out swinging for the fences. He grazes Walker with an overhand right. Walker shakes it off and muscles Nagy to the floor. Walker easily moves to mount and he’s turning it up. Walker hits the head and forces Nagy to roll over and expose his back. The 1982 Heisman Trophy winner unloads to the sides of Nagy’s head and body until Waugh steps in to save the dominated fighter at 2:17 of round three.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Marloes Coenen
Round 1
Coenen opens with a front kick and Cyborg flurries both hands. Coenen ties up with the Brazilian and Cyborg pushes her against the fencing. Coenen throws a straight right and Cyborg swings for the fences. Santos trips her opponent to the floor. Cyborg stands up and lunges punches downward before jumping back into the guard. Coenen works for an armbar and Cyborg pulls her arm free and dives back in. A Coenen upkick connects with the champion’s chin. Coene stands and is blasted by a right hook. Coenen has the cleaner punches, by Cyborg has a large power advantage. Cyborg moves to the challenger’s back while standing, but can’t hold the position. Now in the clinch, both fighters trade knees to the body and high thigh. Coenen breaks the clinch with an elbow that misses. Cyborg chases her prey across the cage and lands a right hook.

Coenen throws a short right and Cyborg knocks the unbalanced fighter to the floor with power punches. Cyborg stands over her opponent and then engages the guard. Coenen goes high with her hips, looking to isolate an arm. Cyborg stacks and moves her challenger to the fence. Referee Jorge Ortiz stands the fighters. The champion lands a hard low kick and a counter left hook. A hard left body kick connects with Coenen’s liver. Coenen dips under a punching flurry and nearly gets a single. Cyborg sprawls late but stops the takedown. Coenen then pulls guard. Cyborg stays patient and then stands to her feet. She kicks Coenen’s left leg and then jumps back into guard. She stands, punches, and then back to guard. 30 seconds remain in the round. Coenen opens his guard, and Santos controls her feet and punches downward.

Round 3
Coenen charges forward and pushes Cyborg to the cage. Cyborg defends the takedown and unleashes both hands. Coenen weakly tries to clinch and Cyborg trips her to the canvas. From half guard, Coenen crossfaces with her left elbow. She releases to punch with her right hand. Right hands rain down and connect with the challenger’s body. Cyborg controls well as Coenen raises her legs high in search of offense. Cyborg stands and Coenen belts the champion with a straight right. Coenen looks surprised that Cyborg isn’t fazed. Coenen shoots and ends up pulling guard. The pounch must have angered the Brazilian, and she shifts to another gear with her punches. Right after left land to the face of the Dutch fighter. Cyborg stands in a north-south position and continues the violence. Ortiz has seen enough. He steps in halt the bout at 3:40 of the third period to pull Cris Cyborg off her overwhelmed foe.

Strikeforce Welterweight Championship
Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis
Round 1
Zaromskis quickly lands a one-two and Diaz is all over him with punches. Zaromskis struggles to stay on his feet as Diaz swarms with both hands, landing lefts and rights. Zaromkskis lands a knee to the body as Diaz grabs the right leg for a single. Zaromskis leans against the fence and Diaz knees the exposed thigh as he holds the single. Over and over again Diaz knees the right thigh of Zaromskis, before dragging the Dream champion to the floor. Zaromskis stands and begins to bob and weave under Diaz’s assult. Zaromskis lands a left hook that knocks Diaz to the floor. Zaromskis swarms and Diaz recovers. Both fighters are now standing. Diaz clinches and lands a knee to the body. Diaz breaks free and absolutely beats up Zaromsiks with right and left hooks. Diaz mixes in an uppercut and a punch to the body. Zaromskis is in a world of trouble. Diaz punches the body and goes to the head again. Zaromskis falls to a short right hook and Troy Waugh calls an end to the beating at the 4:38 mark of the first.

Diaz did an excellent job of working all levels of his opponent with knees to the thigh and punches to the head and body.

Michael Byrnes Jr. vs. Dave Zitanick
Byrnes won a majority decision over Dave Zitnick with scores of 30-27 (twice) and 29-29.

They clinch and Catone presses Forbes to the fence, getting off a few overhand shots. Catone shoots but Forbes wrests him off. Forbes controlling the center, Catone in with a body kick. Catone shoots again but is halted with an over-under clinch. Catone knees Forbes low and gets a pause. Catone with heavy overhand rights and both fighters mix up strikes as the round closes. Forbes is holding one of Catone’s legs as the horn sounds. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 Forbes.

Forbes rides a high guard for a moment as Catone looks for elbows. Fast standup from the referee and crowd is booing. Both fighters paw at each as Catone times the shot and scores another takedown, landing in half-guard. Forbes scrambles back up and Catone tries to hold him down. Catone gets through with a right. Catone shoots again but is stuffed. Catone fires off an elbow off the break. Catone drives in and clinches through some punches. Both men with knees, Forbes with a body lock. Catone comes up again with an elbow and straight right as the fight wraps. 10-9 Catone.

Catone wins a split decision with scores of 28-29, 29-28 and 29-28.

Gerald Harris vs. John Salter
Round 1
Harris with a right and Salter’s mouth piece falls out, causing a brief pause. Both men tentative, feeling each other out with punches. Harris pumping the right, Salter closes in as Harris tries to drop for a takedown. Salter, an NAIA wrestling champion, controlling the front headlock position. Harris stands up and breaks off. Both fighters very slow to engage and putting out one punch at a time. Salter shoots and Harris stays upright, breaking free as Salter whiffs with a punch. Salter bleeding from the nose. Harris trips up trying to pump a right jab as Salter moves forward. Crowd boos slow action after the horn. Sherdog.com sees it as an even 10-10 round.

Round 2
Both fighters back to putting punches out there to see what happens. Salter rushes in with a series of punches but nothing lands. Harris in with a serviceable uppercut. Harris puts a jab out and stuffs a shot. Harris on the back of Salter, whose holding on to a leg. Harris working with ribs with short punches. Back up and they separate. Harris looks frustrated. Harris throwing harder shots and trying to best gauge the distance. Salter’s nose in bad shape, blood smeared. Harris crouching and firing when Salter comes forward. Sherdog.com scores the frame 10-9 Harris.

Round 3
Harris more aggressive with punches but Salter hooks an ankle and gets the takedown. Salter holding tight and Harris backdoors out and proceeds to work from guard. Harris looks like he’s swimming faking like he’s going to drop punches. Crowd hates that. Referee stands them up. “Hit his ass!”, a spectator shouts. Harris shoots a double, gets it, caught in half guard. People screaming as Harris to throw elbows. He throws a few, and begins raining punches. The crowd loves it. The referee stops it at the 3:24 mark, giving Harris the win.

Kyle Bradley vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Round 1
Dos Anjos closed with punches and a clinch attempt but is shoved off. Dos Anjos whiffs on a high kick. Leg kicks by Bradley. Left hook by Dos Anjos makes a smacking noise on Bradley’s head. Bradley head kick blocked. Dos Anjos fires down the pike, Dos Anjos with a leg kick that catches Bradley low. Double leg from Dos Anjos off a kick and they hit the mat. Dos Anjos with punches from inside the guard. Dos Anjos in half guard, Bradley uses a whizzer to rise up. Dos Anjos with a hard body kick and overhand right. Dos Anjos maneuvers to north-south and crowd can’t handle the visual. Dos Anjos working again for a kimura and drops for an armbar, losing it. Both stand and the crowd pops big. Bradley with a big uppercut and they’re slinging. Dos Anjos drops for a takedown and gets it, working elbows and punches from half guard. Bradley re-claims full guard but still eating shots. Hammerfists pile up as Bradley also tries some punches off his back. Dos Anjos with more punches as the round ends. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Dos Anjos.

Dos Anjos with left hook and clinches up. Bradley lands one knee but is taken down off a second attempt. Dos Anjos works punches as Bradley rolls for an armbar. Dos Anjos grinding out shots and pinning Bradley down. Bradley able to roll Dos Anjos off of him and stand. Bradley kicking at Dos Anjos in the butt scoot position. Dos Anjos stands and answers a body kick with a left. Dos Anjos shoots and presses Bradley against the fence. Dos Anjos digging for the takedown, and gets a lift and slam. Dos Anjos active with punches while looking to pass. He gets to mount just as the final horn sounds. 10-9 Dos Anjos.

Guymon shoots and presses MacDonald against the cage. MacDonald brings him down and works to pass. Lots of jockeying for position. MacDonald passes and Guymon stands up, getting clipped with a knee in the process. Guymon shoots again and tries to bring it down. They break and MacDonald gets off a punch/kick combination. Guymon drops MacDonald to a knee with a right and MacDonald lunges for the leg. MacDoanld recoers quickly and its back standing. MacDonald catches a kick and brings Guymon down. Guymon tries to back door out but it pinned down. MacDonald passes to side and peppering Guymon with punches.

Guymon struggling to improve and MacDonald shoots for kimura. MacDonald sits down for an armbar and Guymon gets caught. He taps at 4:27 of the first. Guymon takes an extended knee, but appears in good spirits.

Nik Lentz vs. Thiago Tavares
Round 1
Lentz with a leg and head kick to start. Lentz rushes in and gets Tavares down for a second. Tavares back up and defending kicks. Lentz with a more solid takedown but Tavares scrambles up. Tavares closing on and sprawls out of a takedown. Lentz more active on the feet, jabs and leg kicks. Tavares tries a guillotine off a Lentz takedown attempt and is cranking it on the floor. Lentz survives and crowd roars. Lentz now on top, Tavares scrambles up. Both fighters trade strikes and Tavares shoots for a single. Referee separate them as Tavares gets nowhere from the position. Lentz tries another takedown but is shrugged off as the round closes. 10-9 Lentz.

Lentz with hard kicks while circling. Tavares with head kicks attempts and Lentz throws one of his own off a fit of grappling. Tavares with the plum clinch but Lentz is free. Lentz back to leg kicks that Tavares is trying to time with straight punches. Lentz with two uppercuts in the clinch. Tavares lands a good left hook. Lentz with a body kick but gets caught in the groin with a foot in the crotch from a Tavares kick. After a pause they mix it up, with Tavares getting off harder shots. Tavares shots for a takedown but nothing. Tavares with a takedown as Lentz closes in, pressing him against the fence. Lentz entertains an armbar but Tavares able to keep position as the round ends. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Tavares.

Round 3
Both fighters trade leg kicks, Tavares looks the more aggressive and fresher. Lentz still landing, though. Tavares hits Lentz low again with a hard leg kick after catching a Lentz kick attempt. Mario Yamasaki deducts a point from Tavares, and it doesn’t appear Lentz is going to have an easy time recovering. It appears Lentz is heaving on the mat. Doctors and officials surrounding Lentz, who stands but wears some pain on his face. Lentz takes a walk and the referee restarts the action. Avares has Lentz blooding and is working for a big shot. Lentz unsuccessful with a takedown attempt. Lentz slower with huis punches and Tavares looks crisp. Lentz gets a takedown but Tavares up quickly. Tavares with a body kick. Both fighters with punch combinations. Tavares getting the jab off. Big shot from Tavares had Lentz wobbled but Tavares doesn’t close in. Lentz clinches up. A bloody Lentz looks to clip Tavares with a straight as the round ends. Sherdog.com scores the round 9-9.

Both fighters with heavy punch combos early. Lennox with a right cross that lands. Story goes high with a head kick that is blocked. A second one opens up a jab that lands. Lennox cut over the right eye. Both fighters gauging the timing, Story controlling the center, Lennox with good avoidance. Heavy punches missing. Story clinches up but it doesn’t go anywhere. Story with a knee from the Thai plum, Lennox drags him down, but Story right back up. They separate and Lennox with a pair of kicks. Story with a body shot and goes upstairs with a hook and head kick to close the round. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Story.

Story with a hard straight left to the face to start. Story shoots for a takedown and gets him down. Story with ground and pound and passes the guard. Lennox gets it back but Story holding firm in the position. Story backs off and Lennox stands. Back to trading. Story with a left, Lennox with a body kick. Story gets hit in the neck with a right high kick but it’s not full-force. Story with a one-two on the bloody face of Lennox. Story cleanly outboxing him. Story catches a kick and gets off a hook to the face. Story pours it on in the final 10 seconds. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Story.

Lennox shoots a great double leg takedown for a turning slam to shut down an aggressive Story. Story works for a kimura but Lennox gets side mount. Lennox ties up one of Story’s arms with his legs, almost in a reverse crucifix position. Story stands with Lennox across his back and jumps down, like a Samoan drop in pro wrestling. Story now working from side mount. Story cranking an Americana but loses it, and Lennox gets up. Story gets the takedown and works somme punches on the ground, raining them down but getting wrapped up in a triangle predicament. Lennox struggles to close it off and Story passes. Both fighters stand and Lennox coming with big overhand rights that miss. Lennox with two body kicks as the exciting fight wraps. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Story.

Jay Silva vs. Chris Leben
Round 1
Silva with a jumping knee and Leven tries the takedown. Referee Dan Miragliotta misses a ence grab by Silva, but Leben gets him to the floor. Leben gets mount and goes Donkey Kong, turning Silva over. Leben looking for the rear naked and throwing punches to the side of the head. Leben with aggressive punches. Leben still working the choke with a body triangle. Leben gets the choke around the jaw but not low enough to tap him, and Leben relinquishes. Leben sticking on Silva with the body triangle. Silva ties up Leben’s arms and comes, frees himself and comes up swinging wildly as the round ends. 10-9 Leben.

Arena-wide “Leben!” chant the round begins. Silva controlling the center and Leben looking to time an overhand shot. Big body knee by Leben. Leben slips a punch and gets the takedown. Leben working elbows from guard. Leben passes and mounts Silva. Silva rolls and Lebens back to punches to the side of the head. Leben snatches the neck again looking for the rear naked, but he doesn’t have the position. Leben content to drop punches from back mount for the rest of the frame. 10-9 Leben.

Round 3
Silva comes on with heavy punches. Leben grabs a body lock and works foot stomps that the crowd cheers loudly, exclaiming anew with each stomp. Referee separates them. Leben answers a body kick with left. Leben clinches up and pushes Silva to the fence. They separate and Leben with overhand lefts to chase down Silva. Silva pressing Leben on the fence, where Leben gets the plum clinch. Silva shoots for a takedown but Leben sprawls, transitioning into side control. Leben with elbows to the body from top control seals the round decisively. 10-9 Leben.

Leben takes the unanimous decision with scores of 30-27 from all three official judges.

Brad Blackburn vs. Amir Sadollah
Round 1
Sadollah jabs and Blackburn bounces a low kick off of his cup. The fighters touch gloves. Sadollah kicks the body and legs from the outside and Blackburn closes the distance to trade punches on the inside. Both fighters connect in flurries. The fighters separate and Sadollah lands some leather in the form of a right hook that backs Blackburn up. Sadollah continues to work the jab and right low kick. Sadollah pushes his opponent away with a teep kick before finishing the exchange with a low kick to Blackburn’s left leg. Blackburn returns fire with a jab of his own and a right hook that misses. Sadollah lunges forward and is caught with a right-hook counter. The fighters clinch and Blackburn presses his opponent against the fencing. Sadollah connects with a straight left-hand lead that buckles Blackburn’s legs. Sadollah lands a knee to the chin and takes his prey to the canvas. Blackburn stands and is hit by a front kick.

The fighters trade low kicks that land for each man. Sadollah uses his teep kick to setup his hands, but Blackburn is starting to defend it properly. Sadollah connects with a right-hook lead. Following a brief clinch, Blackburn goes to work with his jab and right hand. Blackburn closes the distance again and leans against his opponent with no underhooks or desire to go to the floor. Referee Mario Yamasaki senses that Blackburn is resting so he restarts the fighters. Sadollah is hit with a short left hook. He answers with a front kick to the midsection. Blackburn clinches again and Sadollah rams a knee into his belly. Blackburn applies a body lock and misses a right knee to the face. Sadollah gets off the fence and gets the best of a punching exchange.

Sadollah exits the pocket with a left kick to the liver. Sadollah lands a snapping low kick to Blackburn’s lead leg. Sadollah misses a head kick at the horn.

Round 3
Sadollah goes back to the body with a hard left kick. Sadollah stumbles Blackburn with a right hand and a knee. Sadollah swoops in and takes his foe to the floor, where he begins to work from guard. Blackburn goes high with hips in search of offense from his back. Sadollah has none of it. He passes guard and quickly moves to side control. Sadollah loses position when he attempts to mount, and is back in Blackburn’s closed guard. Sadollah crawls Blackburn to the fencing, where he can trap his opponent. Sadollah then pulls him away from the cage by his foot and lands a lunging right. The former TUF champion engages Blackburn on the floor and locks up a half-hearted brabo choke. Blackburn is not endangered. Sadollah gives up the hold and begins to elbow the head from half guard. Sadollah can’t seem to pass, so he knees the body and goes back to work with elbows. Sadollah pours it on in the final seconds with punches.

Lawlor is all over Simpson with punches from both hands. Simpson is hurt as lefts and rights smack his face. Lawlor works in an uppercut that snaps Simpson’s head back. And another. Simpson looks for a desperation takedown and Lawlor has none of it. Lawlor continues to absolutely level Simpson with power shots. Simpson’s legs are wobbly, but he hangs in there. The pace slows and Simpson recovers. He pounds on the lead leg of Lawlor with low kicks. Lawlor is gassed following the torrent of blows thrown through the opening minutes of the contest.

Simpson looks fresh to start round two. He lands a right-hand lead and drops down to connect a straight left to the body. Simpson closes the distance and works for a single-leg takedown. He succeeds. From half guard, Simpson elbows the head with his right arm. Lawlor turns his back and gets to his feet. Simpson lands a jab. Lawlor charges forward and shakes Simpson’s frame with a right-hook lead. Simpson recoveres and misses a spinning-back fist. Lawlor presses his opponent into the cage and Simpson pounds the body with punches. Lawlor counters a body shot with a left hook that lands clean. Lawlor applies a standing guillotine. Simpson escapes and works wrist control and knees to the midsection. Simpson lands a right hand and gets a takedown. Lawlor works for a guillotine as time expires.

Simpson stays calm and takes the top position. Simpson frees his arm and takes the mount. Lawlor gives up his back and Simpson tries to secure hooks. He gets one, but Lawlor defends before he can secure the dominant position. Lawlor scrambles and Simpson ends up on his back again. This time he sinks in both hooks. Lawlor escapes and attempts a single. Simpson pulls his leg free and punishes his challenger with dirty boxing. A punching exchange unfolds in the final 10 seconds. Lawlor gets the best of it.

A right hand knocks Dunham to the floor. Escudero pounces and Dunham works for an armbar. Escudero escapes and works for a guillotine. Dunham gets free and stands to his feet. Both fighters attempt jumping knees at the same exact moment. Dunham times the jump and pushes Escudero to the floor.

Escudero laughs it off. Now smiling, Escudero uses head movement to evade a one-two from Dunham. Escudero gets sloppy and Dunham trips him to the canvas. Dunham elbows the head from the top in half guard. Left hands reign down on the face of Escudero. Dunham transitions to the back of Escudero. He locks on a body triangle and starts to work the head and body with punches. Dunham turns Escudero over and flattens him out. Dunham in complete control as time expires.

Dunham shoots in for a single. Escudero pulls guard with a guillotine. Escudero rolls him over and tightens the hold. Dunham escapes and gets back to his feet, where he trips his opponent to the floor. Dunham immediately goes to Escudero’s back and trasnsitions to an armbar. He looks briefly for a triangle before going back to work on the arm. Escudero is in major trouble. Escudero’s arm is fully extended and Dunham is pushing it beyond its limits. Escudero tries to fight through it, but the arm pops, causing him to tap. The official time is 1:59 of the third.

Gray Maynard vs. Nate Diaz
Round 1
Diaz lands a left hand and Maynard is cut above his right eye. Diaz is pawing a slow jab and Maynard is loading up to swing for the fences. Diaz lands a right hand and a low kick. Diaz is frustrating Maynard with a steady boxing game through the midway point of round one. Diaz jabs with his right hand and misses a follow-up hook. Maynard is on a record-breaking pace for missed haymakers. Diaz lands a left to the body and taunts his opponent. Diaz holds the left glove of Maynard and connects with a straight right. Sloppy round.

The crowd boos the fighters at the bell.

Wheeler lands a short inside leg kick that does not deter his opponent who is still throwing heavy punches at every opportunity. Wheeler circles around the outside as Campuzano pursues him. Campuzano throws a knee but Wheeler catches his leg and drags him to the canvas. He locks up an ankle lock but Campuzano shakes loose and gets back to his feet. Wheeler starting to show the effects of Campuzano’s punches, blood is trickling down his face from a cut around his nose. Wheeler tries to get the fight back to the mat but Campuzano scrambles to the top and punishes him with punches and hammer fists until the horn sounds ending the round. Wheeler kicks Campuzano square on the cup and the Texan takes a knee as referee Jason Herzog steps in to allow him to recover. Wheeler locks up a guillotine choke that looks tight. Campuzano fights his way free and busts Wheeler up with punches before getting back to his feet. Campuzano unloads with more shots on the feet, forcing Wheeler to roll for a leg. Campuzano has none of it and sets up in side-control before slamming Wheeler’s bloody face with more leather. Campuzano is landing at will on the feet, he plasters Wheeler with a trio of head-kicks in the final 10 seconds of the round. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Campuzano.

The start of the round is delayed as the ringside physician continues his examination of Wheeler’s apparently broken nose. Wheeler is allowed to continue but his inability to get the fight to the canvas is costing him dearly. Campuzano stalks him from the center of the cage as Wheeler tries to circle away but every time they engage Campuzano is the one finding the mark. Campuzano slams another combination into the blood-streaked face of Wheeler. Wheeler answers with a single-leg takedown attempt but Campuzano shrugs it off easily. Campuzano sprawls on another takedown attempt and elbows him mercilessly as Wheeler tries to finish the takedown. Surprisingly he gets Campuzano to his back with under a minute left but he cannot keep him there. Campuzano lands a hard flying knee that backs Wheeler into the cage. He follows with another knee as Wheeler shoots for a takedown. Wheeler jumps to his feet and narrowly avoids another flying knee. He doesn’t get away from the next one though or the head-kick that followed it. Campuzano raps him with another nasty kick to the head as the horn sounded and saved Wheeler from any more damage. Sherdog.com scores the final round 10-8 for Campuzano.

Round 1
Roop fires a front push kick that drives Wineland back to the cage. The former WEC champ answers with a nice two-punch combination that gets Roop’s attention. Wineland lands a winging right hook that buckles Roop who staggers backwards. Wineland flurries but Roop evades him and gets his legs back under him. Wineland lands with another nice right hand but Roop takes this one a little better. Yet another lead right hand catches Roop. Wineland is exploiting a low lead hand over and over. Roop throws a head kick but Wineland blocks it and throws another right but Roop is ready this time and blocks it. Wineland’s head movement is giving Roop fits, he can’t seem to find him cleanly. Wineland charges forward after the 10 second warning and lands a grazing lead right on the horn. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Wineland.

Wineland vs. Roop.

Round 2
A confident Wineland slams Roop with a body-head combination to get the scoring started in the second. Wineland goes back to the body with a left hook. Roop is moving forward more this round but still can’t find his target. Wineland is still moving well, keeping Roop off balance. Wineland powers another lead right hand to the face of Roop. The much longer Roop still can’t get inside on Wineland who is content to stay on the outside and pick away at his opponent. Wineland takes another round on the Sherdog card, 10-9.

Round 3
Wineland floors Roop with another right hand about a minute into the final round. He tries to finish but Roop gets back to his feet and retreats from trouble. Wineland cracks him with a left hand lead as blood flows from the nose Roop. The pace slows a bit and the crowd shows its dissatisfaction. A slow third round closes with neither fighter willing to take a chance. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Wineland.

Hominick vs. Caraway.

Round 1
Caraway sinks Hominick with a double and settles into his guard. Hominick gets his feet to Caraway’s hips and tries to push him off but is unsuccessful. Caraway stands and tries to pass to side but Hominick gets him back into his guard. Caraway stands again and dodges a pair of upkicks before Caraway drops back into the guard. Hominick tries to sweep to mount but Caraway holds on to the position. Hominick locks up a triangle as Caraway tries to get his base back and manipulates Caraway’s left arm into an armbar and quickly elicited the tapout at 3:48 of the first round.

Wagnney Fabiano vs. Clint Godfrey
Round 1
Godfrey throws a low-kick and circles away. Fabiano patiently waits for an opening. Godfrey lands another kick to the inside of Fabiano’s lead leg before shooting in for a takedown. Fabiano sprawls and takes a front headlock before pushing Godfrey to his back. He tries to mount bout gets caught in half-guard. Fabiano continues to try to pass but keeps getting caught between full and half-guard. Godfrey using an effective butterfly guard to keep Fabiano frustrated. Fabiano works a Kimura with less than 30 seconds left but Godfrey uses his leg to block him from extending it. Fabiano uses the distraction of the submission to take mount and land a slew of shots before the horn ends the round. Sherdog.com scores the slow-paced round 10-9 for Fabiano.

Round 2

Fabiano vs. Godfrey.

Fabiano looks to trade early in the second but runs right into a Godfrey kick. Fabiano locks him up and hip tosses him to the mat. From side control, Fabiano pins Godfrey into a crucifix position, trapping his right arm with his legs and his left with his right hand, before punching unabatedly to his face. Godfrey bucks his way out and takes top position shortly, but Fabiano sweeps back into the mount. Fabiano shoots short punches to the head of Godfrey as he battles to keep his head off the cage. Godfrey puts Fabiano back in guard and stalls him out until referee Herb Dean decides to restart them on their feet. Fabiano gets the bout back to the ground but with just seconds left, time runs out before he can’t advance position. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Fabiano.

Round 3
Fabiano gives up the take down to kick off the final round. Godfrey fights to keep him on his back but the Brazilian rolls to his knees and fights off a guillotine to take top position. Fabiano works for the mount but gets caught in half-guard. He gives up on the mount and takes side-control before going back to mount. Godfrey puts him back in half-guard but eats a few punches for his effort. Dean, sensing the pace is not picking up, restarts the fighters on their feet. Godfrey shoots once again but is reversed again as well. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Fabiano.

Fabiano takes the unanimous decision with scores of 30-27 across the board.

Charlie Valencia vs. Akitoshi Tamura
Round 1
Tamura intent on throwing kicks early on and though they aren’t landing they have kept Valencia at bay. Valencia lands a nice left knee as the fighters break from a brief clinch. Valencia shoots a right hand up the middle as Tamura tries to close the distance. Tamura attempts an inside leg kick but misses and clips Valencia right on the cup. He goes down in a heap and referee Josh Rosenthal steps in to allow him to recover. Valencia is ready to restart and he seems upset. He absorbs a low kick from Tamura and launches a kick of his own at his opponent’s head. The fighters engage in a brief exchange before Tamura goes to his back and sucks Valencia into his guard. Tamura locks up Valencia with a high guard and works on a choke attempt. Valencia perseveres and eventually snakes his way out of danger by slamming his way out of the hold. Valencia pounds away with strikes until the round closes. Sherdog.com scores the close round 10-9 for Valencia.

Valencia vs. Tamura.

Tamura is still relying heavily on kicks as the second frame gets underway. Valencia has navigated clear of most of them while looking to counter. Valencia lands a solid kick to Tamura’s lead thigh. Tamura clinches up along the cage and takes his back while standing. Tamura locks in a body-triangle and punches as he searches for a choke. Tamura holds on for nearly four minutes as Valencia stays on his feet and defends the choke. With 30 seconds left, Valencia falls to his knees and then gets flattened but he holds on to the end of the round. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Tamura.

Round 3
After a slow 90 seconds, Valencia blasts Tamura with a combination that drops Tamura. Valencia takes a front headlock and rolls him to his back where he continues the assault. A game Tamura works back to his feet and is greeted with a hard right hand. Tamura is breathing hard out of his mouth but he keeps coming forward. Valencia pops Tamura’s head back with a jab. Tamura answers with a grazing kick to the left side of Valencia’s head. Valencia punches his way in and flurries on Tamura with just 15 seconds left. The two trade wild shots right up to the end of the bout. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Valencia.

Mackens Semerzier vs. Deividas Taurosevicius
Round 1
Jason Herzog is the referee for the main card opener. Fighters touch gloves. Semerzier misses a kick, and Taurosevicius punches his way in to clinch his foe against the cage. Both have over-unders. Semerzier turns Taurosevicius against the cage, and Taurosevicius turns him back and grabs a single-leg. As Semerzier goes for a guillotine, Taurosevicius lifts him and slams him. Taurosevicius stands over Semerzier and kicks to his legs. Semerzier kicks from his back. Taurosevicius times his opponent’s upkicks and steps in, passing guard. 2:40 to go. Semerzier gets full guard, and Taurosevicius stands with him still holding guard, which allows Semerzier to drop to his feet. They separate. Straight left from Taurosevicius. He throws a right hook and shoots again. Semerzier defends a takedown and tries another guilltone, which leads to another big slam from Taurosevicius. 1:15 to go. Fight is in Semerzier’s closed guard. He hooks under his leg in the lockdown position. The fight slows, and the ref stands them. Taurosevicius shoots again, and Semerzier defends this time.

Semerzier double pumps the jab but doesn’t land. He kicks to Taurosevicius’ thigh. Taurosevicius misses a sidekick out of his southpaw stance. Semerzier kicks again to the inside of his thigh. Taurosevicius goes low with a kick, and Semerzier kicks hard to the head, but it’s blocked. Semerzier tries an outside trip, and instead Taurosevicius powers him to the mat. Semerzier stands, and Taurosevicius nearly lands a rolling single-leg takedown. He lifts Semerzier again for a slam, but Semerzier goes for a triangle. Textbook defense from Taurosevicius, who postures up and maintains top position. 2:30 to go. Short strikes from Taurosevicius in Semerzier’s guard. Semerzier opens his legs but can’t get a sub game going. Semerzier tries to get perpendicular to Taurosevicius, who doesn’t seem threatened. The fighters trade kicks to begin the third. Semerzier measures with his left and launches an overhand right that misses. Taurosevicius catches his leg and pushes him against the cage. He grabs a front headlock, but Semerzier frees himself and grabs his own. They break. 3:35 to go. Taurosevicius jabs and follows with a kick to the body, then shoots. Semerzier tries for a D’Arce choke but isn’t close. Semerzier does roll Taurosevicius with a kimura, but Taurosevicius attacks his leg. Semerzier easily defends and stands over Taurosevicius. 2:20 to go. Semerzier controls Taurosevicius’s left ankle while standing over him. He punches to his body and then lands to the head. Semerzier continues to pick his shots while standing over his opponent. Taurosevicius is content to stay on his back, and Semerzier is scoring points. With a minute to go, Semerzier engages on the ground and passes to side control. Taurosevicius tries to roll out, and Semerzier wraps up a tight guillotine. Taurosevicius strains and pops his head out with 20 seconds to go, and the round closes in Semerzier’s guard.

Jason Herzog is your ref once again. Morrison kicks high into Brown’s arms. Brown is waiting back while Morrison kicks. Brown wings a wild right and wraps up his opponent. He powers Morrison to the mat with a body lock and almost instantly traps one of his arms and peppers his face with punches. Morrison gets his arm free, but Brown maintains control, nearly gets mount and then takes Morrison’s back for a rear-naked choke. Morrison taps. Official time is 1:54.

Dave Jansen vs. Kamal Shalorus
Round 1
Herb Dean is the referee. Jansen circles a mostly stationary Shalorus to begin. Shalorus steps in with a body kick. Jansen jabs and follows with several rights, one of which lands but doesn’t hurt Shalorus. Shalorus wings a wild right and then an uppercut in the clinch. He connects with a straight right, but Jansen fires back and shoots. Shalorus stops the shot and the fighters break. 3:00 to go. Shalorus kicks to Jansen’s thigh. Shalorus looks stiff on his feet but throws hard. Jansen misses another single after Shalorus uses a front headlock to easily defend. Jansen comes in punching, and Shalorus takes him down. Jansen gets up quickly, however, and connects with another right. Shalorus stands in the pocket and throws back, cutting Jansen over his left eye. Jansen walks into a right hand and a left hook, and he’s stunned but on his feet to close the round.

Shalorus vs. Jansen.

Another exchange begins the second. Jansen is throwing the straighter punches, but Shalorus swings harder, usually a wild overhand right followed with a left hook. The form is bad, but Jansen is developing a habit of walking into the punches. Jansen kicks to the thigh and ducks out of a punch combination. Jansen misses a one-two, and Shalorus is under him for a double-leg. The fight goes to Jansen’s open guard at 2:30. Jansen does a good job of rolling to his feet very quickly. Both fighters swing wildly. Jansen steps in with a good knee to the head. Shalorus is fine, though. Another wild exchange, and Jansen seems to have hurt Shalorus briefly with a wide right hand. He pursues Shalorus, who recovers quickly and sticks a straight right in Jansen’s face, which is getting fairly bloody. Jansen misses another takedown to finish the round.

Round 3
After missing an overhand right, Shalorus connects with a left hook to the body. Jansen shoots well, but Shalorus has excellent takedown defense. Jansen shoots again but doesn’t touch Shalorus’ legs. Jansen tries to uppercut a ducking Shalorus but misses. 3:20 to go. The fighters are canceling out each other’s jabs. Shalorus is now throwing a looping hook. It leaves him open to a short right from Jansen. Jansen misses another takedown. 2:00 to go. Shalorus gets Jansen’s leg for an easy single-leg takedown, but he shows no control on the ground and Jansen stands. Jansen’s forehead is open again. He throws a hard lead knee to Shalorus’ head. It lands but doesn’t seem to do much damage before Shalorus gets another takedown. He has no trouble putting Jansen down when he wants to. Jansen works to his feet but is caught in a front headlock. The round ends against the fence.

Assuncao misses a left hook, and Faber circles out. Faber throws a front kick and then literally runs in with an overhand right that misses. Again Assuncao pushes him against the cage. They break with three minutes to go. Faber connects with a straight right hand and pushes Assuncao to the fence. They break again. Faber lands with a lead left uppercut. He is much quicker than Assuncao with his hands. Assuncao gets a bodylock and has Faber off balance briefly but can’t put him down. Again to the fence. Faber breaks and they have a brief firefight before breaking again. Short uppercut from Faber. Faber jumps in with a knee but doesn’t land. Faber counters with an overhand right that partially connects.

He seems to recover quickly and looks for an armbar on the ground. Faber begins working in Assuncao’s guard. 1:47 to go. Faber works from the top until Assuncao tries to stand. Round 1
Varner clinches off a missed left hook and slams Henderson in the opening minute. Henderson immediately tries to roll to a kneebar. He keeps trying to get under the leg and straighten it. Varner moves to a front headlock and knees to the body. Varner then switches to a deep guillotine and cranks it. Henderson defends the choke but gets kneed in the face. Varner still has his opponent’s head locked up and is working his body with knees and punches while making Henderson carry his weight. Referee Herb Dean breaks them. 1:40 to go. Henderson kicks to Varner’s body, and Varner walks away oddly, as if he is expecting the fight to be paused. Henderson attacks, and Varner grapples him into the cage. They tie up for the remainder of the round.

Henderson flicks a kick to Varner’s thigh. They lock up against the cage, and Henderson throws a knee on the break. Varner kicks to the inside of Henderson’s thigh and smiles at him. Posted by Kris Karkoski on Dec 31, 2009 at 11:00 am ET29 Comments.Hidehiko Yoshida ruined the anticipated debut of fellow Olympic Judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii, topping the MMA newcomer by unanimous decision in MMA main event of Thursday’s 18-bout “Dynamite!! 2009″ event at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Regarded lightweight and DREAM champ Shinya Aoki earned a quick submission victory over Sengoku’s Mizuto Hirota, breaking his arm with a hammerlock in the opening-round before flipping off Hirota and the crowd before quickly leaving the ring.

In other notable MMA action, Ikuhisa Minowa upset Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou with a third-round TKO to win DREAM’s “Super Hulk” tourney and Gegard Mousasi and Alistair Overeem each earned first-round knockouts.

“Dynamite!! 2009″ was capped off by an exciting K-1 rematch between Masato and Andy Souwer, with Masato earning a decision victory in the bout billed as his last.

Grant vs. Burns.Burns pushes forward while Grant looks to counter. Grant changes levels and hits a double-leg takedown. Burns pops right back up to his feet and clobbers Grant with a flurry of punches that drops the Canadian to the mat. Burns pounces and pounds with big punches that have referee Greg Franklin hovering. Grant spins out for a leg, forcing Burns to defend, and eventually gets back to his feet. Grant hits another double and establishes top position. Grant moves to half-guard and then stands in Burns’ guard before dropping a pair of big right hands to the head of his opponent. Grant tries to pass to mount and goes too far. He tries to secure an inverted triangle, but Burns pushes him off and gets back to his feet. In the following exchange, Grant landed a kick to the groin of Burns that felled him to his knees. Burns was given time to recover before the bout was restarted. Grant grabbed the plum right off the restart and kneed away at Burns before stepping back and landing a devastating right hook that crumpled Burns to the canvas. Grant hammered away until Franklin stepped in to save Burns at 4:57 of the first frame.

Round 1
Johnson and Garcia touch gloves in the center to kick-off the welterweight affair. Garcia takes the center while Johnson is happy to circle outside. The two exchange with Johnson landing the better shots, causing a big welt under Garcia’s left eye. Garcia hits a takedown and transitions into a Peruvian necktie choke. Johnson works his way clear and escapes back to his feet only to be planted with a flurry of punches. Garcia followed Johnson to the mat in hopes of finishing the fight but Johnson turned the tables when he locked up a triangle choke that forces Garcia to tap at 4:03 of the first round.

Rousimar Palhares vs. Lucio Linhares
Round 1
Palhares shoots immediately and secures a sloppy single-leg takedown. Linhares works his way back to his feet as Palhares tries to pass his guard. Palhares grabs a guillotine choke and falls to his back then rolls Linhares over. Linhares defends his neck, but ends up on his back with Palhares in his guard. Referee Greg Franklin stands the two up with two-minutes left in the round. Palhares eats a punch, but gets Linhares back to the mat where he goes through a series of leg locks that are expertly defended by Linhares. Palhares vs. Linhares.Palhares launches into a slow-motion flying knee that Linhares catches and drags him to the mat with. Palhares takes top off of a scramble and Linhares quickly locks up a tight triangle choke. Palhares stands and works to free himself, but Linhares begins to work his arm. Palhares wriggles off the hook by extracting his arm and working free. He then took top position but after little action Franklin brought them back their feet. Both fighters were visibly fatigued, and neither was quick to jump to their feet despite the prodding of Franklin. Linhares jumped into a flying omaplata as Palhares shot for a takedown on the restart. After easily defending the submission, Palhares sat back once again for a leg-lock and forced the tapout with a nasty-looking heelhook at 3:21 of the second period.

Johny Hendricks vs. Ricardo Funch
Round 1
Hendricks charges forward at the bell and Funch stands his ground. Hendricks unloads a couple punches that miss before shooting in. Funch grabs double underhooks and stops the attempt, and then knees to the body of the star wrestler. Hendricks wiggles free of Funch’s clutches and begins to dirty box. The striking opens up the takedown and Hendricks drops levels to hit a powerful double-leg slam. Funch gets back to his feet, but Hendricks unloads with punches from the clinch, the uppercut doing the major damage. Funch shoots in and Hendricks locks up a guillotine and falls to his back. Funch defends and Hendricks gives up the hold and moves to a front headlock. As the fighters scramble, Hendricks grabs the guillotine once again before going back to the front headlock as time expires. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Hendricks.

Round 2
Hendricks shoots to start off the second and Funch sprawls well. Hendricks gives up the shot and tees off with punches that leave Funch looking for cover along the cage. Hendricks shoots again, but Funch delivers a nice knee to the body. Undeterred, Hendricks grabs Funch and flings him to the mat with another powerful takedown. Hendricks backs away and calls for Funch to return to his feet. Hendricks pushes him up against the cage and hammers him with knees. Funch drops for a takedown, but Hendricks expertly defends before pounding him with more punches and hammer fists. Hendricks takes Funch’s back and punches away while trying to lock up a choke as the second round ticks to a close. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Hendricks.

Round 3

Hendricks vs. Funch.Hendricks lands another takedown to kick off the third before transitioning to Funch’s back again. Funch defends the choke and escapes when Hendricks gets too high on his back. Funch lands a booming low kick that Hendricks shrugs off before landing a vicious one-two that backs Funch into the cage. Hendricks scores another takedown that lands him in side control. He tries to set up a crucifix by trapping Funch’s right arm with his legs but the Team Link fighter pulls his arm free. Funch scrambles back to his feet for a fleeting second before getting slammed back to the canvas again. Hendricks pounds away until the final bell sounds. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Hendricks.

Shane Nelson vs. Matt Wiman
Round 1
Wiman is beating himself up in the corner before the fight begins, smacking himself in the face, body and legs to get ready for his lightweight scrap. Nelson seems to have the speed advantage early in the first. He is countering well and getting off first when he chooses to. Wiman throws a right hand, but Nelson counters with a combination of punches and a kick to the body that knocks Wiman off balance. Wiman gets his feet back under him and springs forward with a flying knee that Nelson easily avoids. Wiman tracks Nelson back down and staggers him along the cage with straight right-right uppercut combination. Nelson falls to his back and establishes his guard but Wiman opens him up with a big elbow to the top of the forehead. Nelson gets back to his feet as the round ends. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Wiman.

Round 2
Wiman goes for a kick to the body, but Nelson grabs his leg and takes him to the mat. Referee Mario Yamasaki implores them to get busy but after little action on the mat he stands them back up. Wiman pushes Nelson against the cage and grabs a leg and steps back, pulling Nelson to the mat. Nelson goes for a triangle and Wiman avoids the submission attempt. Wiman loading up elbows from the guard as Nelson goes back and forth from open and closed guard. Nelson rolls out and grabs a leg, looking for a submission but Wiman sits up and tries to punch Nelson as the bell sounds. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Wiman.

Wiman vs. Nelson.Wiman steps in and throws a blistering kick to the groin of Nelson after a brief exchange. Nelson falls to the mat as Yamasaki intervenes. Wiman pleads his case as Nelson takes about a minute to recover from the low blow. Nelson lands a low kick of his own as the fight is restarted, but Wiman answers with a takedown. Wiman stands up to punch and Nelson gets rises to his feet and lands a nice combination of punches. Wiman moves into the clinch and takes a front headlock before a weary Nelson gives up an easy takedown. With Wiman in his half guard, Nelson rolls for another leg lock that is easily defended by Wiman, who then takes the Hawaiian’s back. Wiman cinches the body triangle and begins to work for the rear-naked choke. Nelson defends but can not get away. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Wiman.

Belcher vs. Gouveia.Alan Belcher vs. Wilson Gouveia
Round 1
Belcher, in a pair of beautiful pink Thai shorts, stalks Gouveia from the center of the cage. Gouveia steps forward with a solid series of punches the face of the advancing Belcher. The fighters reset and do it again. They are just trading bombs with neither fighter backing down. Belcher rocks Gouveia with a right uppercut that puts the Brazilian on his seat. Belcher swarms with punches until referee Herb Dean steps in at 3:03 of the first round, giving Belcher the TKO victory.

Paul Buentello vs. Stefan Struve
Round 1
Struve kicks the body and Buentello catches it. Struve tries to pull guard and Buentello has none of it. Struve stands and crushes the Texan with an uppercut. Struve follows with a takedown and he gets it. Struve moves to the mount and Buentello turns his back to avoid punishment. Struve locks on a body triangle and works the head of Buentello with both hands. Buentello covers up while referee Dan Miragliotta watches closely. Struve locks on a rear-naked choke and Paul defends by controlling the left wrist of his foe. Struve clinches the choke and changes his grip for more leverage. An ignorant crowd boos the action. Struve releases the body triangle and it costs him, and Buentello takes the top position with a nice reversal. Buentello plays it cool in Struve’s offensive guard with elbows to the body. Buentello throws a double-Mongolian chop ala Sakuraba in the round’s final moments.

Round 2
Struve kicks at the body of Buentello and slips early in the round. Buentello does not engage him on the ground and invites his opponent to stand. Struve obliges. The fighters clinch against the cage and Struve drops down for an ankle lock. Buentello defends the technique well and hits Struve with a left hand as they stand. Struve jumps for a flying knee and Buentello knocks him flat with a right hand in mid air. Struve clears the cobwebs and tries it again. Buentello, showing excellent timing, blasts him with a right hand again before the knee impacts its target. Struve opens up with his hands and the fighters trade lefts and rights to the head. Buentello gets the best of the exchange. The fighters touch gloves after the violence.

Round 3

Struve vs. Buentello.Time is called before the round starts to remove a piece of tooth from Struve’s mouthpiece. The break gives Buentello a much-needed breather. The round starts and Buentello lands a right cross to the jaw. Struve lands two hard low kicks to the lead leg of Buentello. Struve finds a rhythm and connects with a right knee to the body and a left hook to the chin. Struve lands a standing elbow and the crowd reacts, but it was partially blocked. Struve continues to work the left leg of the winded Texan with kicks. Kick after kick scores with the thigh of Buentello. The pace slows as Struve seems content to pick Buentello apart from the outside with low kicks. Buentello pushes Struve down and hovers over him. The referee stands the fighters and Paul gets a right hand in on the chin.

Round 1
Florian, in a southpaw stance, lands a straight left lead to Guida’s jaw. Florian attempts a head kick and is dragged to the floor by Guida. Florian opens his guard and controls the wrists from the bottom. Florian finds distance to stand. Florian is cut above his right eye, but it doesn’t seem to be serious. Guida checks a low kick and fails on a sloppy double-leg attempt. Guida lands an uppercut from the clinch and Florian briefly takes Guida down. Guida stands and attempts to throw his opponent down, but it’s Florian that ends up on top in side control. Guida gets to his feet and Florian slams him to the floor with a lateral drop. Guida is bleeding behind the hairline above his left ear from an elbow, which prompts referee Mario Yamasaki calls time to have a doctor check the cut. The doctor says it’s OK to continue and we’re back on. The horn sounds moments later.

Round 2
Guida’s cut is severe. His cutman loads the gaping hole with Vaseline before the second round. Florian is more patient in this stanza as he uses footwork to setup his jab. Florian follows a jab with a right hand and it connects clean on Guida’s chin. Guida melts to the floor and Florian hops on his back in search of a rear-naked choke. He secures it and Guida taps quickly at the 2:19 mark of round two.

Jon Fitch vs. Mike Pierce
Round 1
Fitch trips Pierce up while throwing a low kick. Fitch hops on his back and looks for a rear-naked choke with both hooks. Fitch gives up the choke to control the head with a half Nelson. Fitch punches the head with his free hand. Pierce walks Fitch over to the cage and finds a window to land some punches of his own while Fitch controls his back tightly. Fitch is warned for punching the back of the head by referee Mario Yamasaki. Pierce exits out the back door and takes the top position. Fitch uses his back against the fence to stand. The action slows to a crawl and Yamasaki separates the fighters. Fitch is bleeding from a small cut above his left eye. Pierce jabs and stuffs a Fitch single-leg attempt.

Round 2
The fighters trade lazy strikes to start the second frame. Pierce shoots in for a single and Fitch defends it easily. Pierce clips his prey with a right hand and Fitch answers with an uppercut. Fitch lands another uppercut and bounces a knee off the Pierce’s body. Fitch catches Pierce flat on his feet, and drags him to the floor with a crisp single-leg takedown. Pierce stands and Fitch takes control of his back while standing. Pierce turns into his opponent and takes a knee to the midsection for his effort. The action slowed in the second round as Fitch forced Pierce into his game.

Round 3

Fitch vs. Pierce.Fitch cracks Pierce with a straight right. Pierce pushes Fitch against the cage and does little with the advantage. Fitch roughs him up with dirty boxing as he sneaks in a right hand and a sharp knee to the body. Fitch misses a sloppy head kick attempt and goes back to his jab, which is only affective at keeping his opponent at bay. Fitch gets a single and Pierce stands. Again, Fitch rides the back and does little else. Pierce escapes and then pieces together his best combination of the fight: a jab, right low kick set that turns the tide. Pierce turns it on with punches in the bout’s final moments and buckles Fitch’s frame. Pierce works the body and head with both hands, but Fitch survives to hear the horn.

Round 1
Mir floors Kongo with a left hook lead. Mir pounces and locks up a guillotine. Mir tells referee Herb Dean that Kongo is out. Dean lifts the arm of Kongo to verify, and it’s confirmed. Frank Mir chokes Cheick Kongo out cold with a guillotine at 1:12 of the opening frame.

B.J. Penn vs. Diego Sanchez
Round 1
Penn is all over Sanchez from the start as he belts the challenger with a right hook. Sanchez falls face first and Penn is peppering him with punches from both hands. Sanchez is hardly defending, but referee Herb Dean does a tremendous job in letting the fighters work. Sanchez takes a beating but he’s still in the game. Sanchez gets to his feet and now is fighting very tentative as he clears his head. Penn snaps Sanchez’s head back with a jab and a right hand. Another right straight clips the chin of Sanchez. Sanchez, bleeding from the bridge of his nose by the right eye, shoots in for a single. Penn sprawls and defends beautifully. Sanchez opens up and is smashed by a right-hand counter. Sanchez walks to the wrong corner at the bell.

Round 2
Penn measures Sanchez off and fires a right-hand lead that falls short. The challenger shoots for a single and swoops up Penn’s left leg. The champion’s balance is amazing. He hops on one foot and avoids the takedown while making it look easy. Again Sanchez shoots and fails. The crowd starts to chant “B.J., B.J.” Penn has taken control of the center of the Octagon. Sanchez is circling while Penn cuts off the cage. Sanchez drops levels for two more takedowns and it’s clear that he can’t take Penn down early in the fight. Sanchez throws a sloppy right hook and Penn uses head movement to avoid it, just as he has since the opening bell. Sanchez briefly trips Penn to the floor, but the Hawaiian hops back to his feet in less than a second. Through two rounds, Penn is both dominating and more fresh in terms of wind.

Round 3
Sanchez charges in for a takedown and is still unable to secure it. Penn’s balance and space is too refined. Sanchez puts his head down and looks at the floor while throwing a one-two. The punches miss their mark by a foot. A left-footed head kick is blocked by Penn and the fight goes back to the clinch as Diego misses on another takedown. Penn cracks Sanchez with a standing elbow. Sanchez is displaying his best war face, but he’s been unable to land a single significant strike or takedown. Puts stuffs another and roughs Sanchez up with a right hook. Penn bounces on his right foot while Sanchez tries desperately to drag him to the floor. Penn has none of it, and lands another right hand before time expires.

Round 4
Sanchez attempts a head kick that doesn’t come within feet of Penn. The champion connects with right hook as Sanchez tries to clinch. Penn backs Sanchez up to the fence and hurts him with a right hand that crisply follows a jab. Penn lands another right hand that forces Sanchez to retreat. A resilient Sanchez tries takedown after takedown, but he just can’t execute it. The pace slows as Sanchez works for a double against the fence. Penn defends by pushing the head down. The crowd goes restless and begins to boo. Penn chucks Sanchez off and returns to the center of the cage. Sanchez comes forward and Penn blasts him with a right-hand lead.

Round 5
Sanchez has an awful cut on his bottom lip. Cornerman Saulo Ribeiro pleas with Sanchez to take Penn down in between rounds. Sanchez comes out and tries just that, but he has no chance. Sanchez pushes his head to the floor and beats him up with punches and elbows. Sanchez stands and Penn lands a head kick that opens up a three-inch cut above the left eye of Sanchez. The challenger tries for a desperation takedown that is easily defended. Blood is pouring from the face of Sanchez and Herb Dean calls time to have the cut examined. The cavernous gap is jagged and wide, which gives the doctor no choice but to call and end to the fight. The official time is 2:37 or round five.

Ultimate Fighter Heavyweight Finale Results

The 10th Ultimate Fighter Finale will likely be the most-watched in UFC history, thanks to the presence of Kimbo Slice vs. Houston Alexander on the card. But the card is solid from top to bottom, including a good light heavyweight battle between Matt Hamill and Jon Jones, a solid lightweight fight between Frank Edgar and Matt Veach, and the TUF 10 heavyweight final between Roy Nelson and Brendan Schaub.

Round 1
Sotiropoulos is trying to get on the inside, but Dent keeps him at bay with punches. Dent scores with a nice jab followed by a good body shot. Sotiropoulos answers with a body shot and a three-punch combination. Sotiropoulos finally shoots halfway through the opening round and immediately tries to pass to side. Dent fends him off for a bit, but Sotiropoulos passes to side control and then mount. Dent gives up his back and gets pounded for it. With about 30 seconds left, Dent rolls to his back while Sotiropoulos continues the offensive until the horn sounds, ending the period. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Sotiropoulos.

Round 2
Dent opens the second period looking to bang. He pushes Sotiropoulos back and lands a good right hand. Sotiropoulos catches a kick and sweeps Dent’s plant leg, sending him to the mat. Landing in half guard, the Australian rolls Dent to his back in hopes of sinking his other hook, but Dent defends by turning into his opponent. Dent tries to get to his feet and is taken right back down. Sotiropoulos transitions to mount and pounds on Dent. He gives up the dominant position to go for the armbar. After rolling Dent over and securing the position, Sotiropoulos pulls his arm out and extends it, eliciting the tapout at 4:36 of round two.

Caol Uno vs. Fabricio Camoes
Round 1
Camoes blasts Uno with a right kick to the head that backs the southpaw into the cage. Camoes takes Uno the mat and transitions to north-south for a moment before Uno gets back to his feet. Camoes lurches forward with punches before taking him back to the mat. Standing in Uno’s guard, Camoes launches into his guard with a windmill right, but Uno uses the opportunity to stand back up. Camoes takes him back down and gets Uno’s back. He looks to have the rear-naked choke in deep, but Uno powers out. Camoes, on his back now, finds himself on the receiving end of Uno’s punches in the round’s closing seconds. He tries to adjust his hips, but Uno smashes him down as the horn sounds. Camoes takes the first round 10-9 on the Sherdog card.

Camoes scores with a big overhand right and left-hook combo that he follows up with a takedown. Uno tries to work back to his feet and Camoes attempts a trip takedown. Uno avoids it and puts Camoes on his back. Uno, trying to ground-and-pound, takes an upkick from Camoes while he is on his knees. Referee Mario Yamasaki steps in and deducts a point from Camoes. Uno is ready to continue right away and the fight is restarted with him in Camoes’ guard. Camoes escapes back to his feet and batters Uno with punches, with his left hook being the weapon of choice. Camoes shoots back in and gets reversed right away by Uno. Camoes gets back up with just 10 seconds left and blasts Uno with punches and an elbow. Round two is scored 9-9 with Camoes losing a point for the foul.

Round 3
Camoes is finding the mark with big punches early in the third. He cracks Uno with a succession of left hooks and straight-right hands. Uno clinches and drops for a double, but Camoes defends. Uno throws a low kick, but slips and Camoes lands a hard punch before he can get back to his feet. Camoes lands another left hook, it seems to land every time he throws it. Uno stems the tide with a takedown, landing in a visibly weary Camoes guard. The fighters trade shots on the ground, Uno with elbows and Camoes with upward hammerfists. Uno passes to side and then north-south before Camoes goes to his knees. Uno controls position as Camoes tries to get back to his feet. The round closes with Uno in control. Sherdog scores the round 10-9 for Caol Uno.

Official scores are 29-27 (Uno), 28-28 and 28-28 for a majority draw.

Brock Larson vs. Brian Foster
Round 1
Larson and Foster are feeling each other out to begin the welterweight bout. Larson charges forward and misses with a left hand, but drops and grabs a single-leg. Foster, balancing on one leg strikes Larson to the head as he tries to finish the takedown. Larson gets the match to the mat, but Foster goes right back to his feet and pounds Larson to the body with a left hand while standing in his guard. Foster takes mount for a moment and Larson pushes him off. Foster tries to reenter Larson’s guard and is kicked off of Larson who follows with left foot to the right side of Foster’s face. Referee Yves Lavigne steps in and deducts a point from Larson. The ringside physician checks out Foster and determines he is all right to continue. The fight restarts and the fighters clinch. Larson takes a front headlock and knees Foster while he had one hand on the ground. Lavigne steps in again and deducts another point. Foster is ready to go again and nothing of consequence happens in the closing seconds. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-7 for Foster with the two point deductions.

Round 2
Larson is marked up above his right eye and cut on his nose to begin round two. Foster is picking him apart on the feet again in the second frame. Foster lands a spinning-back kick along the cage and follows with a spinning-back fist that just misses. Larson backs away and Foster is in hot pursuit. He throws another spinning-back fist that misses, but he still gets the clinch with Larson. He picks him up from a body lock and slams him to the mat before smashing him with punches and hammer fists. Larson retreated once he got to his feet, but Foster tracked him back down and landed a huge right hand as Larson shot in. He pounds on him with punches until Larson taps out at 3:25 of the second round.

Kendall Grove vs. Jake Rosholt
Round 1
Rosholt clinches and trips Grove to the canvas. Grove pops back up and defends the clinch with a trip of his own. Grove begins to work his right hand from the guard of Rosholt. The wrestler scrambles to his feet and gets the top position following a fast takedown. With 1:30 left in the opening frame, Rosholt advances to the mount position. Grove momentarily gives up his back, but gets to half guard for his effort. Grove uses nice footwork to get full guard. Grove slaps on an omaplata and transitions beautifully to a triangle choke. Rosholt taps quickly at 3:59 of round one.

Paulo Thiago vs. Jacob Volkmann
Round 1
Thaigo bounces a head kick off the melon of Volkmann. Thiago gets inside control from the clinch and trips his prey to the canvas. Thiago lands directly in side control. Volkmann gets back to guard and uses the fence to back-crawl his way to his feet. The Brazilian works double underhooks against the fence and Volkmann defends with a whizzer. Thiago eventually drags his opponent to the floor. Thiago passes to mount, and Volkmann, bleeding from a cut on the nose, bucks his way to half guard. Thiago stands and Volkmann follows. The action slows for the next 60 seconds and the crowd lets the fighters hear it. Thiago answers with a three-punch combination that knocks Volkmann to the floor. He is saved by the bell, as he was clearly hurt.

Thiago (top) vs. Volkmann.
Thaigo roughs Volkmann up with a punch-kick combination to start the second stage. Volkmann, clearly hurt, stands slow and Thiago does not capitalize. Volkmann retrieves his bearings and gets a takedown of his own. The wrestler pins Thiago against the fence and clips the head with several right hands. Thiago works to his feet and the fighters clinch against the fence. The action slows again and the fans are right on top of it with jeers. Volkmann stuffs a shot and controls Thiago from the top. Volkmann nearly advances to mount, but he unloads with both hands before the position is secured. Thiago reverses danger easily and ends up on top. Thiago engages with punches from the top and then stands. Thiago unloads a right hand and jumps into side control. The frame ends.

Round 3
Thaigo stays on the offensive and drops Volkmann with a right hand. Thiago stands over his fallen opponent and lands two hard right hands to the body. Volkmann fights his way to his feet. Volkmann shoots a single and Thiago has no trouble balancing on one leg and stopping the takedown. Volkmann tries it again and gets it. Thiago briefly gives up his back and then goes to half guard. Volkmann passes to side control and traps the left arm of Thiago. Volkmann strikes the head with his elbow and Thiago is completely trapped. The Brazilian bucks until his arm is free. Thiago takes the top position and Volkmann locks on a brabo choke from the bottom. He turns Thiago over and the hold is deep. Thiago frees his head and turns Volkmann over into side control. Thaigo batters the wrestler with punches and elbows until the horn sounds.

Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony Johnson
Round 1
Koscheck lands a left hook to get the action started. Johnson grazes his left foot off the head of Koscheck. Koscheck jabs and lands a straight right that snaps Johnson’s head back. Johnson backs Koshceck up against the fence. Koscheck shoots and lifts his opponent high into the air, but he isn’t able to finish the takedown. Johnson throws a knee while Koscheck is grounded and Referee Mario Yamasaki steps in. Replays show the knee doesn’t even touch the face of Koscheck, but he is given time to “recover.” A point is taken from Johnson. Action is resumed and Koscheck gets a takedown. Johnson gives his back but is able to get to his knees before the horn sounds.

Koscheck vs. Johnson.
Johnson throws a left-hand lead and is accidentally poked in the eye by Koscheck. Yamasaki gives Johnson time to gather himself and action is resumed. Koshceck lands a head kick and pokes Johnson again. This time the replay is hard to watch as Koscheck’s finger jammed directly into the left eyeball of Johnson. The injured fighter takes a few minutes and once again the fight is back on. Johnson cracks Koscheck with a right hook and the fighters trade leather in the center of the cage. Koscheck pushes forward and gets a double leg. From the top in half guard, Koscheck slams elbows down on the left eye of Johnson. 90 seconds remain in the round and Koscheck continues to blast his foe with punches and elbows. Johnson’s nose is bleeding and Koscheck looks for an arm triangle. Johnson fights it off and Koscheck moves to the back. He locks in a rear-naked choke and Johnson taps out at the 4:47 mark.

Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin
Round 1
Griffin kicks the body and legs of Ortiz and misses several punches that fall short. Ortiz cracks Forrest with a straight right that followed a jab. Ortiz steps forward and takes Griffin down with a fast double. Ortiz elbows twice from the top and Griffin uses a kimura to stand. Ortiz now has Griffin in the clinch against the fencing, until their roles positions are reversed. Griffin fails on a trip and knees Ortiz twice in the midsection. Ortiz gets off the fence. Ortiz attacks and Griffin lights him up with a right hand. Ortiz shoots and Forrest easily steps away from it. The fighters trade sloppy punches. Griffin goes to the clinch and Ortiz throws open-handed smacks to both ears.

Round 2
Griffin goes to work on the legs of Ortiz with low kicks. Ortiz catches a foot and finishes a single leg. Ortiz elbows with his left and throws punches with his right. Ortiz passes top half guard and Griffin uses the window to get to his feet. Both fighters miss sloppy right-hand leads. Griffin misses a “Superman” punch and then connects with a front kick to the face that ejects Ortiz’s mouthguard. Referee Josh Rosenthal calls time to retrieve the safety device and the fight is restarted. Ortiz gets a takedown and unloads a right hammerfist that Griffin checks. Ortiz begins to work punches from both hands, but Griffin is blocking and using head movement to avoid the blows. Ortiz lands an elbow and Griffin is a bloody mess. There is a massive cut above the right eye of Griffin. Rosenthal moves in for a closer look and Forrest sweeps to take the top position. The cut appears to be in a bad location.

Round 3
Looking little worse for the wear following some superb work by his cutman, Griffin throws two lazy front kicks that miss. Griffin lands a low kick and begins to peeper Ortiz with his hands. Ortiz’s conditioning isn’t where it used to be after such a long layoff. Griffin is landing punches from both hands at will and Ortiz is just covering up. Griffin stuffs an Ortiz shot and commences work on the Californian’s nose. Ortiz has no answer for the jab and right hand. Griffin lands a clean left hook and a low kick. One minute remains in the contest. Griffin uses his jab to set up another snapping kick to Ortiz’s lead leg. Ortiz drops levels for a single-leg takedown and Griffin shrugs it off. Ortiz lands his best punch of the round in the bout’s final moments in the form of a right hand. Big round for Griffin.
