L.C. Davis Discusses Leaving Miletich, Xtreme Couture and WEC Success
Filed under: WEC, FanHouse Exclusive, interview
With a record of 15-2, WEC featherweight L.C. Davis is one of MMA’s biggest under-the-radar success stories.
After back-to-back wins over Javier Vazquez and Diego Nunes, the 29-year-old has picked up momentum that he hopes to take with him into his next bout, next Saturday’s WEC 47 matchup against Deividas Taurosevicius. It marks the first time Davis will appear on the televised portion of a WEC card, and he plans to make it memorable.
But this time will be different for Davis, who recently made a drastic change in his training, leaving behind Iowa and the Pat Miletich camp for a new approach. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Davis discussed his long road to the spotlight, his new training regimen, his place in the featherweight division and more.

Former UFC champ Tim Sylvia juggling three possible fights, though none yet signed
Tim Sylvia (25-6) is currently under
consideration for three separate fights spanning from March through
June, though none of them are a done deal.
Sylvia’s manager, Monte Cox, on Saturday told MMAjunkie.com that his phone rings every day with promoters who
look to employ the former UFC heavyweight champion.
But three fights – including a rematch with Wes Sims and a “guilty
pleasure” fight against five-time World’s Strongest Man champion
Mariusz Pudzianowski – are in advanced negotiations.

As the world watched the terrible news of another horrific earthquake — this one epicentered in central Chile, and waited for news of a follow-up tsunami expected to hit Hawaii, UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn and his website BJPenn.com became a legitimate news outlet for information.
Penn, who incorporates frequent video blogs as part of his website, live streamed video footage of Hilo Bay on his website throughout the day. Middleweight Paulo Filho continues to battle personal demons
Diehard MMA fans remember well the day when Paulo Filho (18-1) appeared to fight more than one opponent in the WEC cage.
Filho, 31, was once the top-ranked middleweight in the world, going undefeated in seven years of competition, but things quickly took a turn for the worse.
And though he rebounded from that bizarre November 2008 loss to Chael
Sonnen – a bout where he often gazed outside the cage and frequently
talked to himself – with three-straight wins, his U.S. manager, Ed
Soares, said the grappling ace is still battling personal demons.

Jose Aldo was the general consensus 2009 MMA fighter for the year, but if you asked me who the 2009 BJJ/submission grappler of the year was, I’d point you to the direction of Braulio Estima.
Estima won not only the 2009 ADCC titles in the absolute division and his own division, but he also won gold at the BJJ worlds, gold at the European championships and beat Marcelo Garcia to claim second at the Pro Cup.
Estima will begin his first MMA camp for his MMA debut expected for Shine 3 on May 15. In this interview with MMA Fighitng, Estima talks about moving to MMA, and brushes off an altercation that occurred last weekend.
